Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

The study designed a bidirectional profiling press device for seeding operations in hilly areas. There are a few minor comments need to be addressed:

Page 1; Line 16-19: The results in the abstract needs to be constructed in a way that all the outcomes with the significant figures should be given either in the percentage or statistically significant values.

Missing section "Discussion" before conclusion, which can further extend the study into a comparative analysis with the past study, pros and cons of suggested designed device.

Reviewer 2 Report

The manuscript handles a working performance of bidirectional profiling press device.

The abstract is confusing, for example: “factors A, B and C have a significant influence on the test indexs of soil moisture content” but don´t have what the A, B and C factors are. In my opinion, the abstract needs to be reformulated, to make the work developed more descriptive and appealing.

On the other hand, the authors could find an explanation for the results obtained in terms of environment/plant physiology. Because at the end of the experimental design what was obtained is just that.

I also could not understand the problem of the unevenness of the terrain, and how it was solved.

Some statistical parameters could also be incorporated, such as the fit of the model and the suitability of the model.

Reviewer 3 Report

The authors have investigated a bidirectional profiling press device according to the conditions of seeding operations in hilly areas of Northeast China. The bidirectional profiling press device mainly consists of press wheel and strength adjusting mechanism to allow the horizontal and the vertical profile ability. The manuscript is interesting and useful for the design and application of the profiling press device. The paper is acceptable to be published in Agriculture, provided the following issue can be addressed.

  1. Some abbreviations should be clarified when they appear for the first time.
  2. The format has to be improved.
  3. Add one or two figures to show the performance of the designed bidirectional profiling press device, instead of tables only.
