Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

The authors have undertaken a review of the current status of research both in the field of in-vivo erythropoietic studies and also and in great depth in-vitro studies.  Their work shows the value of such studies both in diagnosis of haemopoietic diseases and possibly with respect to the treatment of them.  It also suggests the possibility of producing red cells for patients who are on regular transfusions and who have difficulties with transfusion reactions.

The only fault I can find in the article are some awkward English expressions or typos.

Reviewer 2 Report

The paper by Eitan Fibach gives an overview of the available in vitro approaches aimed to correct the ineffective erythropoiesis in b- thalassemia patients.

The paper is interesting and exhaustive in itself, but the reading it severely damaged by a scarce or even null English editing, that compels the reviewer to be transformed in a proofreader. It is my opinion that this aspect is not negligible and damages the general opinion on the paper, giving an impression of superficiality and low respect for the colleagues involved in papers review.

Enclose you will find the manuscript with my comments and corrections.
