Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

Comments are shown as follows:

The manuscript is an interesting subject and it is well written but needs some corrections as follows.

  1. There are some grammatical errors as follows and is repeated throughout the text. Therefore, language check is necessary.

For example, the simulation programs were written in MATLAB with Simulink using the built-in ode8 method with a time step of 5e − 6s; the simulation lasted 2 s, and the impulse force was applied at 0.2 s.

  1. The quality of Figures 1 and 2 are not suitable and they need to be corrected.
  2. If Figure 2 is the result of the authors' experimental work, there is a need to explain how the experimental work is done. Otherwise, refer to the reference used and explain a little more about it.
  3. Of the 20 Equations mentioned, only 3 have the reference and the rest have no reference equations, so they also need to introduce a reference.
  4. In the numerical analysis section, dimensional specifications, mechanical properties, and rotation speeds are selected based on what criteria. If it is an experimental study, it needs to be mentioned in detail. Either refer to the reference used or explain how to obtain the properties.
  5. The quality of Figures 9 to 14 are not suitable and their writings are illegible, therefore, they need to be corrected.
  6. How to trust numerical results without verifying and validating the results. Therefore, in order to improve the work, it is necessary to verify and validate the results.
  7. Only two outputs (Time response analysis and Frequency analysis of tilting response) are discussed, or at least four outputs are discussed, or add the experimental section as references 1 and 2 mentioned in the list of articles.
  8. Figures 12 to 14 show qualitative results that are not very clear, so it is necessary to add a numerical comparison with the error value.
  9. Due to the importance of the numerical method in the case study, the following refs may help the numerical method converge for validation and validation.

Reviewer 2 Report

The article is devoted to the study of the influence of the disk deformation caused by the tilt vibration of a splined rotating disk with axially fixed boundaries, as well as the development of a model describing the observed effects. Undoubtedly, the results presented by the authors are of high scientific novelty and practical significance, and are also promising for practical research. In general, the presented results of the study can be accepted for publication after the authors provide answers to all the questions raised by the reviewer during the reading of the article.

1. In the abstract, the authors need to more clearly state the purpose and relevance of this work.
2. The authors should give a more detailed description of the influence of deformation on the occurrence of a nonlinearity in the dynamic response of a rotating disk.
3. The authors should explain why they used impulse actions on the disk in their simulations.
4. The authors should partially revise the interpretation of the presented results in view of the fact that in this format this article is an analytical report containing a large amount of illustrative material.
5. The authors should explain the asymmetric nature of the deformation.

Figure 1 and 2 are without any scale, diameters, etc…. You say:  the disc tilting and axial motion are highly correlated. Both motions either show strong nonlinearity or stop immediately after the impulse, please explain.

What time of machine is Figure 2.
