Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

The manuscript is interesting and well written. The authors are urged to consider the following remarks in a revised version of the manuscript:

  1. If authors No. 1, 3, 4 and 5 contributed equally to the work, why are they not the first 4 in the order?
  2. It is not clear why references 1 and 2 are used for the definition of “exploration geophysics”. Unless it is a new term introduced to the literature, there is no need to refer to any works that potentially mention it.
  3. In Fig. 1, please correct ”Seismic recievers” to “Seismic receivers”.
  4. The discussion is quite limited. This section needs to be enhanced.

Reviewer 2 Report

A useful study.  We all know that full-waveform inversion is quite essential for measurement. How to improve efficiency is a difficult question.  This paper presents a CPU and GPU parallelization method, which is interesting.  I just have some minor concerns.

  1. The introduction part should point out the importance of the study.
  2. The physical model of the dam, how to ensure the model is close to the real conditions?
  3. keep the conclusions point by point.
  4. are there any limitations to the studies? please clarify.
