Comments and Suggestions for Authors

General remarks
•    The research represents an important literature search conducted in the field of the present technologies to reduce marine plastic pollution.
•    The topics discussed in the submitted article analyse the negative impacts of this kind of environmental pollution on marine ecosystems.
•    The article is, really, a comprehensive review about the current state of the scientific research about this issue, highlighting, also, the need for a comprehenive approach to the problem.
•    The Introduction represents a good background for the topics analysed in the review but, considering the contents discussed in the paragraphs, it could be better to detail, also, the pathways of plastic debris and the process of bioaccumulation in the marine food chain.
•    Materials and Methods are well developped in data collection and in bibliometric analysis.
•    The section Results must be divided in two paragraphs such as Results, showing the resulting data, and “Discussions”, for their interpretation.
•    The final paragraph Conclusions is complete and represents a good synthesis of the review.
•    The figures and tables are correct and well inserted in the text.
•    The references are appropriate and detailed.

Specific comments
    Introduction
1.    Pag. 2 Line 51: It is necessary to detail the main pathways of microplastics and their process of bioaccumulation in the marine food chain.
2.    Pag. 3 Line 120: It is timely to specify, in the caption of the figure, the meaning of the scheme.

    Results
1.    Pags. 7-18 Lines 260-481: It is necessary to divide this section into two different paragraphs as “Results” and “Discussions” for a better comprehension of the contents.
2.    Pag. 16 Line 414: It is timely to enlarge the figure so to make readable the scripts inside the figure.

Review of: Evaluating Solutions to Marine Plastic Pollution: A Comprehensive Global Bibliometric Analysis

Environments

Recommendation: Minor revision

L14: several plastic islands? Can be better described

L12 – 20: too lengthy before entering into the scope of the paper, it can be cut short.

The abstract should be revised to highlight the key findings of the study rather than focusing solely on general information.

Introduction

There are many bibliometric reviews in the literature, so authors need to identify them and explain the significance of their review and how it adds to existing literature.

The section can be trimmed and strengthened.

L89: please refer to and cite - https://doi.org/10.1016/j.scitotenv.2023.166561

L125 – 127: The aim is on evaluating the effectiveness of various mitigation strategies, including policy interventions ….however the scope on this aspect has never been added especially in the list of questions listed at the end of introduction. It should be taken care of.

L268: age age ..repeated

Table 1 contains repetitive information, please check and correct.
