Reviewer 2 Report

Authors summarize the current data about the host response on EBOV vaccination and EBOV infection in animal models and humans. They compare the results suggesting that innate and adaptive immune mechanisms are involved in rVSV-EBOV-GP-mediated protection. This manuscript is interesting, especially to someone who is interested and wants an overview on the topic.

I have few suggestions for the authors.

  • Update the nomenclature of Filoviridae and use the official Virus abbreviations (see Gaya K. Amarasinghe, et al., TAXONOMY OF THE ORDER MONONEGAVIRALES: UPDATE 2018. Arch Virol. Author manuscript; available in PMC 2019 Aug 1.Published in final edited form as: Arch Virol. 2018 Aug; 163(8): 2283–2294. Published online 2018 Apr 11. doi: 10.1007/s00705-018-3814-x
  • Change the days post infection “DPI” as “dpi”
  • Change filoviridae in Filoviridae
  • Provide a definition of PFU for non-virologist readers
  • Line 199-paragrapg 5, provide the definition of DEG (it is reported in the paragraph 7)
  • If possible, add one figure or table summarizing the different DEGs for animal models and human
  • Increase the fonts of figures 2 and 3. Some words are hard too small.
  • Some sentences are very long, considered to split in smaller sentence to increase the readability.
