A Life Cycle Assessment of Rice–Rice and Rice–Cowpea Cropping Systems in the West Coast of India
Round 1
Reviewer 1 Report
Using the LCA assessment based on adopting SimaPro software is not new, but the application of the case study for two crop patterns are useful and contains a lot of information for policy planner and stakeholders.
I have the following comments to improve the quality of the article:
1- The title is too long. The first part of the title is not well justified. Either justify it by adding a section to show the results of the article to help in the first part of the title. Otherwise, the second part of the title is sufficient.
2- In line 22: What is the units of (11.6 and 4.8? is it %? please clarify.
3- In Line 115: please explain how you conducted the "farmers' survey"? and what kind of data did you collect?
4- Figure 1 is not detailed enough to allow others to repeat your work. Please present a more detailed LCA framework and system boundaries or prepare another flowchart to show the implantation phases and steps.
5- In Line 179: Values in Table 1 are calculated values. Where is the data collected from the "farmers' survey"?
6- In Table 1: The unit area of the selected farms is not identified.
7- in Table 1: The unitet area of the selected farms is not identified.
8- In Line 461: Lca can not be accepted. Please use "LCA instead of Lca
9- In Line 465, add a co ma between IPCC and the next text as follows: IPCC, IPCC guidelines.........

Reviewer 2 Report
Dear Authors thank you so much for your submission. The manuscript is interesting to read and is written very effectively.
I think the manuscript is ready for publication.
However, I have three remarks to the authors:
1- Please move aim of your study, in last part of the Introduction, to standalone paraphrase.
2- Please link your results to United Nation Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDGs 13 and 15, and demonstrate how your results will contribute to the achievement of the SDGs.
3- Credibility in your work can be improved by performing an uncertainties analysis, so I suggest you do so. However, I’ll leave this decision to the Authors
Good luck!
