Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

This research uses a novel machine learning approach to determine diagnostic criteria for garlic nutrition in Brazil.  Overall there is a comprehensive data set that was used for machine learning and smaller data set for validation.  The manuscript will be of interest to the readership of Agronomy and those involved with garlic nutrition.  One issue that was not adequately discussed is that irrigation amounts were not recorded so it unclear how meaningful precipitation is in the model.   Some discussion is needed to address this lack of information.  Specific comments are provided in attached PDF.

Reviewer 2 Report

The aim of the article under review is to determine the nutritional status of garlic in local conditions using different factors. Given the topic, the article should be of great interest.
The article is well structured. All relevant information is included in the material and methods chapter, the results are presented in a clear and illustrative way, and the discussion and conclusion chapters clearly show the main points of the work.
The only shortcoming of the article is that the introduction section could have been more explicit on the possible future effects of climate change on garlic cultivation, which would be important as this crop is very climate sensitive. Similar aspects could perhaps be added to the discussion section.
