Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

In this study the seasonal biomass accumulation and nutrient flux were investigated for Miscanthus x giganteus grown in Poland. The MISCANFOR model was run using soil and climatic data obtained from the study site to assess plant available water, wilt point, leaf area index and dry matter accumulation.

In my opinion this paper can be published after major revision.

Please follow the amendments listed below:

  1. The research was analysed throughout the 3 subsequent growing seasons from 2010 to 2012. Why the results are prepared for publishing in 2021? How the climate changes could impact for the yields nowadays?
  2. Please delate the empty line throughout the whole article (e.g. 79, 90...471, 472).
  3. Figure 1. is unneceassary. The description of the field trial is enough information.
  4. Please add the Figure 2. to the Results, where this figure also described.
  5. The title of Figure 4. is too long.
  6. The description of the results in the Table 1. should be located directly below it. I recommend moving the table or adding an information about Tab. 1. before the table.
  7. Please add some up-to-date references. Only 2 cited articles were published after 2012 - the last year of ivestigation described in this article.

Reviewer 2 Report

Dear Authors,

your study of macronutrient uptake and relocatability in an established stand of miscanthus in a region with climatic variability in terms of precipitation and temperature represents an important contribution to ongoing investigations of the sustainability of perennial biomass crops. Even though these are ten-year-old experimental results, I think your study is still timely and worthy of publication. However, I still noticed some ambiguities and formal errors in my reading that you should consider if you will get the opportunity to revise. You will find my 46 comments in the attached annotated PDF version of the manuscript.
