Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

Nutrient Diagnosis Norms for date palm (Phoenix dactylifera) in Tunisian Oases

The subject of the work is the assessment of data for the establishment of the nutrient diagnosis norms for date palm in Tunisian Oases. This is a relevant subject in order to achieve a more sustainable use of fertilisers and consequently more profitable date palm yield. So, the results have not only a scientific but also a technical/practical value.

Overall the manuscript is well done, with appropriate state of the art, objectives and experimental design and a detailed presentation of the results obtained. The discussion of the results is also consistent with the results of the experiment. I suggest minor correction:

-Since the amount of the nutrients in the leaves change throughout the year / crop cycle, it’s important to refer in the abstract and also in the conclusions the leaves sampling time (the season or crop cycle stage).

This information has been further detailed in the materials and methods section (L94-95) and also added in the abstract (L24-25) and conclusion (L439).

Reviewer 2 Report

The manuscript is interesting both in scientific and practical terms. However, I suggest some small changes.

  1. Please correct language and editing errors, g. criticalvalue, Table1for or Table5showsthe.
  2. Please correct the literature references and email addresses as required in the journal.
  3. Please provide the doses of manure and mineral fertilizers in the Materials and Methods section.
  4. The content of macroelements should be given in g kg-1.

All errors in pasted words are corrected.

  1. Please correct the literature references and email addresses as required in the journal.

OK it's done.

  1. Please provide the doses of manure and mineral fertilizers in the Materials and Methods section.

Doses of manure and mineral fertilizers in the Materials and Methods section are provided. See Lines L86-L89.

  1. The content of macroelements should be given in g kg-1.

The unit of macroelements in g kg-1 has been changed throughout the text. Also, Figure 1 and both Tables 1 and 3 have been redone.
