Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

The article makes ambiguous impression. On the one hand, it is supposed to discuss «Processing, characterization, and oxidation resistance of glass-ceramic coating on CoSb3». On the other hand, the article seems to be a follow up of the previously published works doi:10.1111/J.2041-1294.2011.00071.X and  doi:10.1016/j.jssc.2012.03.070 . In my opinion, the authors need to focus more on the work associated with the title rather presenting results on the research of pure glass-ceramics partially reported in doi:10.1111/J.2041-1294.2011.00071.X.

I think the article needs the major revision.

MAJOR:

-          The Introduction doesn’t provide sufficient information and justification of the possible coatings for CoSb3 particles, e.g. PEDOT:PSS coating is quite popular as anti-corrosion coating. What’s an advantages of the particular glass composition over other coatings, e.g. G11 and PEDOT:PSS.

-          Some references are too old. Please provide newer references and expand the list.

-          The authors provided the Electron Microscopy research on the effect of heat-treatment on the coated particles, but I didn’t find information on the thermoelectric properties. How did they change with the conducted heat-treatment?

TYPOS and STYLE:

Page 1 line 17: the abbreviation «ZT» isn’t defined

Page 1 lines 17-18: The references are excessive in the abstract

Page 1 line 21: « The coating processing involved the production of glass powder and 20 glass-ceramic coating sintering», the use of gerund looks excessive

Page 1 line 22: the abbreviations «DSC» and «XRD» aren’t defined

Page 2 line 85: please, insert the reference instead of «Error! Reference source not found.»

Page 4 line 133: « collaborating with the JCPDS ICDD database» should be «using the JCPDS ICDD database»

Page 5: 164-174: Figures 2, 3 and 4 can be combined into a single one.

Page 12 line 318: «Figure 16» should be «Figure 16»

Page 13 line 322: «80h» should be «80 h», «°600 C» should be «600 °C»

Page 13 line 329: «mg/cm2h» should be «mg/(cmh)»

Page 13 line 333: please, insert the reference instead of «Error! Reference source not found.»

The article needs to be checked for mistypes. Also, some sentences can be improved grammatically.

The paper present the synthesis of a ceramic glass deposited onto CoSb3. The work is well described and present interested for the readers.

Some minor observations:

1. Figure 3 is doubled

2. Also, the authors mention that the coating present good adherence properties. How is determined this adherence?

3. The Summary section should be transform into Conclusion section containing the main findings.

Dear Authors,

Thank you very much for your answers. I'm recommending to accept the article in the present state. Hopefully, you will write a new article with thorough investigations on the effect of coating on the thermoelectric properties.

English language is fine now.
