The manuscript has some typos that need to be addressed by the authors.
The abstract needs to be more specific about the main findings of the study, as it is now, the findings are too general and lack specificity
The introduction section is too general, the authors need to provide more specificity in this section.
The authors need to provide more details about how the content analysis of the study was applied. Was this somehow validated?
In the conclusion section, some of the conclusion are too general. I recommend the authors to avoid bullet points and discuss the content.
Ultimately, I encourage the authors to discuss how this study contributes to practitioners of BIM.

The paper conducts a systematic literature review on the application of BIM in O&M phase and identifies current research trends, research gaps, and future directions. Even if the conclusions may partially seem to be intuitively obvious, the article summarizes the underlying literature, and in-depth literature analysis provides their valuable reasoning.
Please incorporate the following comments into the paper:
The authors have identified "seven main functions for BIM integration with O&M". "These functions are: information management (IM); advanced technology management (ATM); maintenance and asset management (MAM); indoor management (InM); performance assessment management (PAM); visualization management (VM); and lean management (LM)." (l. 192 – 196). The identified functions overlap. ATM, MAM, InM, and PM are O&M processes that may be optimized by improvement of information management (IM) by using BIM data acquired in BIM processes. VM is part of IM because visualization of (BIM) data is part of (BIM) process whose setting is the result of information management (IM). Finally, LM is the method of management, so gives us the way how IM, ATM, MAM, InM, PAM and VM should be performed. Please discuss and distinguish mentioned functions according to "What processes are managed" (ATM, MAM, InM, PAM), "What in (these) processes is managed" (IM, VM), and "How (these) processes are managed" (LM).
Some examples of how identified functions overlap can be found in the following text:
- l. 297 - 299 "They [49] further categorized the level of information required in another study into (1) maintenance personnel; (2) building management system; and (3) asset management." – information management overlaps with asset management
- l. 495 – 496 "However, further guidelines and tools are required to fully integrate BIM with computer aided facilities management (CAFM) systems and to overcome the challenge of interoperability and poor quality of data" – information management (quality of data influences quality of information) overlaps with asset management
- l. 533 – 534 "Similarly, Valinejadshoubi. et al. [170] focused on virtual visualization of buildings’ thermal conditions by integrating sensor-based alert systems with BIM, which provide real time data for thermal comfort monitoring." - visualization management overlaps with indoor management
The authors state (l. 660 – 661): "Previous studies have showed that establishing standardized libraries and protocols like industry foundation classes (IFC) help to minimize this gap."
- please provide references for these studies
- please explain what you mean by these "libraries and protocols" and how are they related to IFC which "are an open international standard for Building Information Model (BIM) data"[1] not library nor protocol.
- please take into account that data exchange between building information models and facility management software can also be realized using various APIs, addons or extensions to BIM authoring software or facility management software (e.g. https://archibus.com/products/extensions-framework/smart-client-extension-for-autocad-revit/ ).
The research gap identified in "Value realization and ROI with BIM in O&M at the initiation" section of the paper (l. 707 – 720) implies the extension of the research question "to what extent is BIM integrated into O&M phase" (l. 185) to "To what extent BIM should be integrated into O&M phase." for a future research.
Please provide reference for used PRISMA-P method (l. 64).
Please make correction of reference (l. 406) "Furthermore, Golabchi et al. proposed automated …"

In the reviewer's opinion, the paper is well organized and comprehensively described. The reviewer recommends accepting the paper in present form, emphasizing that the volume of the paper is significant (59 pages) and the number of references is 227. The reviewer is not in favor of publishing articles with such a large volume, in which the number of references rather corresponds to doctoral or postdoctoral dissertations. These two elements are the weakness of the paper, but do not detract from its overall possitive grade.
