Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

It is kind of long. It seems more like a report, than an article.

line 315 -  should be 2.2.1

line 344 - should be 2.2.2

line 355 - should be 2.2.3

line 971 -  see the word integral

Are a few places were are more spaces than needed between words. (eg Line 1025)

Author Response

Dear Reviewer,
Thank you very much for the time and effort that you have dedicated to providing constructive feedback on the manuscript.
Following your constructive comments and suggestions, we addressed the occasional spelling mistakes and typos throughout the article and improved the coherence of the chapter headings. We also shortened the paper as much as possible without reducing its quality; the final manuscript is thus clearer and 748 words shorter.
Most sincerely,

Reviewer 2 Report

This manuscript analyses and discusses discourses, governance processes and policy mechanisms guiding the transition to a circular economy. This manuscript analyses what circular discourses and policies are being promoted in the Netherlands and what sustainability implications and recommendations can be drawn from it. It does so through a mix of media analysis, policy analysis, semi-structured interviews, and surveys using Q-methodology. The results indicate a dominance of technocentric imaginaries, and a general lack of discussion on holistic, and transformative visions, which integrate the full social, political, and ecological implication of a circular future.

The manuscript is well written and is of high scientific quality. The structure is good. The issue (implementation of circular economy) is a relevant research topic and the authors have attacked the topic in a scientific way. My recommendation is to publish the manuscript.
