Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

This paper aimed to introduce a new innovative cycle, namely the TopCycle, that includes the necessary combustion infrastructure to generate highly efficient power and heat on a large fuel variety. The authors start by presenting the description of TopCycle and relevant method. They considered the effect of dominated parameters which have the most influence on the performance of the gas turbine system. A sensitivity analysis for identifying the cycle performance was implemented. Finally, the TopCycle’s performance was compared to the combined gas and steam cycle (CC) at a similar condition.

The design of this cycle is feasible. The system is more economic than the state-of-art system. The paper is, in general, very well-written and clearly organized. The contents and concepts were explained in detail. I have only minor comments listed below

+ In Figure 1, the VAP unit may need to be changed to EVA unit.

+ In figure 6 and 8, the legend and text overwrite lines.

We would like to thank the reviewers for their careful consideration and helpful comments. We highly appreciate your effort and feel grateful for all the positive feedback. The following section details the changes made in the revised manuscript.

In the assessment, Reviewer 1 requests only minor changes.

  • “In Figure 1, the VAP unit may need to be changed to EVA unit.”
  • “In figure 6 and 8, the legend and text overwrite lines.”

These aspects were changed accordingly in the revised paper manuscript (please find attached).

Reviewer 2 Report

As a concept paper, the manuscript introduces an innovative version of a humidified cycle which includes the necessary combustion infrastructure to generate highly efficient power and heat on a large fuel variety. This is a brilliant example of a well-written, well-organized concept paper. I really enjoyed reading it. All aspects of the problem have been described perfectly.
