Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

The title of this manuscript is quite interesting. The authors presented a case study of Fábrica de hielo, focusing on the adaptive reuse. However, I have some questions mentioned below.

Firstly, the authors mentioned many detail information, especially the method and the experiment for the adaptive reuse. I want to know the authors' role in the adaptive reuse because I did not see the reference for many messages.

Secondly, the authors divided the structure of this manuscript into six departments, including: 1.Introduction; 2. Adaptive reuse applied to industrial heritage: the unique case of Valencia; 3. Method for the adaptive sustainable reuse project in a local context; 4. Results; 5. Discussion; 6. Conclusion. The research method for this article is not exact. The content of the six departments is not consistency, especially the fourth department, Results.

Thirdly, according to the title of this manuscript, the authors did not propose precisely about how to enhance the local context by designing the sustainable adaptive reuse of industrial heritage precisely. Maybe the authors need to amend the title of this manuscript or to reinforce the content.

Thank you for sharing this well written and researched paper! I only see a few small changes to be made before it is ready to publish. The first four figures are a little cluttered and small to read as a single figure. Could you split some of those maps and images up into their own larger separate images? One odd line of text formatting at line 132 is stretching out the sentence, but it should not be difficult to fix.

Great job with your studies of the La Fábrica de hielo, I look forward to seeing this paper published.

First of all, we would like to congratulate the authors for their work and dedication in carrying out this study. The article entitled "DESIGNING THE SUSTAINABLE ADAPTIVE REUSE OF INDUSTRIAL HERITAGE TO ENHANCE THE LOCAL CONTEXT" is a very interesting one, approaching a contemporary topic by an innovative and very useful method. At the same time, it is well documented, has many bibliographic sources of great importance and relevance for the subject in question.

If we are to look at the material from a critical point of view, I would like to mention the following:

- The text between lines 64 and 87 seems to me to be passed to the section dedicated to the INTRODUCTION. At the beginning, the city of Valencia is presented as a case study, but in fact it presents more general aspects related to the approached subject.

- Chapter 2.1. - a map would be needed for the reader to better understand where the case study approached at the level of Valencia is. I saw that this map is presented in another chapter, but it would be best to present it at the beginning.

- Chapter 3.1. - The figures are nice and suggestive, but some of them require additional information (legends) for a better understanding. From where the data presented in this chapter were collected?

- Fig. 5 - in what year were the presented pictures taken (if this information is known, it would be interesting to be presented)?

- All the software and devices used to carry out the study should be presented, as well as the method of using them.

At the same time, the article suffers a little from what the sequence of sentences and research steps means in the sense that in some places the text is quite difficult to understand.

Leaving aside the shortcomings, the manuscript has a lot of potential and with some minor changes can be published.

I saw the authors adding new information for the research method and I have no more question.
