Reviewer 2 Report

Dear Authors,

Thank you for your interest in Sustainability. I have been reviewing numerous papers in my career and have seen many similar research. My personal opinion is that such type of works, which are of local importance and do not contribute to the new methods or does not provide a new methodology, better should be published in your national journals as the results are more important to your local community and the local authorities. Thank you in advance for your understanding.

Despite the fact that the study is appropriately carried out it is óld news'. Many similar studies have been carried out around the world and are relevant for the local authorities which have requested them.

Kind regards,

Reviewer

This paragraph added to the Introduction to show the Importance of the article.

The problem of solid waste is very serious in developing countries. About 80% of the world population are living in these countries (Pearce, 1998). Due to the situation of these countries, such waste is affecting the human and environment. For this reason legislations and laws developed since mid-twentieth century to ensure sustainable development and management of waste in prudent manner to minimize the effect on human and environment ( Al-Ansari et. Al, 2012). This article offers a method that can be used easily to select the most suitable site for solid waste landfill. Selecting the site using this technique will help to overcome all negative outcomes on human and environment.

Reviewer 3 Report

This is a good research area that deals with  landfill site selection.  For future reference, it would be good to do a comparison and contract with landfill siting in developing countries and in the United States.

Round 2

Reviewer 2 Report

Dear Authors,

Thank you for the justification of your study. I do agree and understand that landfill site selection is of a major concern for the developing countries but this is not enough from a scientific point of view in order to get published. I would advise you to resubmit your work to a local or regional (for Asia) ecological or environmental management journal where your work will get higher visibility by the local authorities which should be the end users of this methodology.

Kind regards,

Reviewer
