Round  1

Reviewer 1 Report

Evaluation of different design patters of Titanium acetabular cups and their pull out forces on synthetic bone materials is interesting and well written.

The introduction can be improved by giving more info about different implants used (cemented vs press fit; metal vs ceramic; porous vs solid, etc). Images/illustrations may be used in introduction.

Methods section is well written and organized.

Results and discussion was is well written. Discussion can be improved by adding how new pattern design compare against commercially available patterns. Minor formatting error while cross referencing tables needs to be corrected

Author Response

Dear reviewer,

Thank you for your response to the submitted manuscript. In the following I would like to take position in detail to your remarks.

I have marked all changes green in the manuscript.

I have supplemented the introduction with some information on the subject of implants (e.g. cemented, developments with regard to surface design). Thank you very much for this note.

In the discussion I added some thoughts on the topic of cups (open-pored vs. standard).

The manuscript in its present form has been checked by a translator-proofreader. The cross references (tables, figures) were corrected.

I trust that the present result is of the expected quality.

Yours sincerely

V. Weißmann
