The implementation of green initiatives by hospitality employees can significantly enhance the environmental sustainability of hospitality firms. However, there is a lack of research exploring the mechanisms influencing hospitality employees’ green innovative work behavior (GIWB). Through the mediation paths of green soft talent management (GSTM) and green hard talent management (GHTM), this study seeks to investigate how entrepreneurial leadership promotes GIWB. The data from 366 employees and managers in Pakistan’s hospitality industry were collected through a survey method using partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM). The findings reveal that the effects of entrepreneurial leadership on GIWB, the direct effects of GSTM and GHTM, and the interaction effects between entrepreneurial leadership and GIWB are substantial. Based on the upper echelons theory and the resource-based view concept, this study extends research on the leadership–GIWB macro nexus and increases our understanding of the mechanisms behind employee GIWB, particularly in the hospitality setting. Tourism is currently one of the main sectors of profit for the worldwide economy. This study aims to explore ethics and sustainability in employer branding applied in the hotel industry, which is intended to correlate these very current and little-explored themes. This study aims to explore the investigation of these concepts that have grown, especially in the area of tourism and hospitality, as a way to better understand how the hotel sector can improve and develop strategic tools to achieve organisational success and capture the best talent. Methodologically, a Delphi method (three rounds) was performed through 26 participants recognised as experts of three major associations within the hotel industry in Portugal. As the main outcome, this research validated the Ethics and Sustainability in Hospitality Employer Branding Model, comprising three dimensions (HRM and EB Practices; Factors of business ethics and environmental sustainability; and Advantages of UH in implementing the EB strategy and RS communication) and underlying categories. Findings and practical implications to management are presented. Full article

In order to solve the problems of national and international research and the current situation, the following must be addressed: the research method is more traditional; the research perspective is relatively single; the index construction lacks a theoretical basis; the index selection is more one-sided; the data is only cross-sectional; the financial and talent support is insufficient; the service level of public service facilities is not good; the awareness of cultural preservation and inheritance is insufficient; and the level of management across administrative regions is differentiated. At the same time, to meet the top-level design needs of constructing a rural historical and cultural preservation and inheritance system, the non-oriented, region-wide EBM (Epsilon-Based Measure)-GML (Global-Malmquist) model is constructed under the condition of VRS (Variable Returns to Scale), which includes non-desired outputs. Additionally, an index system for assessing the value of rural preservation and inheritance in China is also constructed. Taking the typical rural area in the Western Liao River Basin of Inner Mongolia as an example, the panel data from 2019 to 2021 are selected for empirical analysis, and the conclusions and countermeasures are as follows: 1. The overall preservation improves year by year, and partly shows high preservation in the southwest and low preservation in the northeast. The advantageous areas should update the preservation and inheritance methods to enhance the driving effect on other areas; other areas should continuously improve the quality and efficiency. 2. The difference between rural areas with the highest and lowest assessed values increases year by year, showing the Matthew effect. It is necessary to realize the policy meaning of the value assessment index system by strengthening the overall preservation, integrating the preservation and inheritance into the rural development of the whole basin, strengthening the overall management, reforming the preservation and inheritance management mode, and improving the management efficiency of rural in the whole basin. 3. Strengthen the technical empowerment and scientific preservation and inheritance. It is necessary to learn the advanced technology concept and transform the technical achievements over time. This paper reports the results of a study on the implementation of a sustainable teaching model based on the OBE (Outcome-Based Education) concept and the TSEM (Teach, Study, Evaluate, and Manage) framework in computer science and technology at NingboTech University, China. In the context of digital education, the OBE concept and the TSEM framework are integrated to explore sustainable teaching and learning models based on “artificial intelligence and education”. Based on the core concept of engineering professional education accreditation, the course is designed by using the PCCM (Professional Competency Correlation Matrix) method to build a model based on big data analysis, deepen the classroom teaching reform of “artificial intelligence and education”, and explore the integrated digital sustainable teaching mode of “teaching, learning, evaluation, and management”. The aim of this study is to explore the effectiveness of the teaching model based on OBE and the TSEM framework on students’ sustainable development. The results show that students deepen their learning in computer science while enhancing their own learning initiative, teamwork skills, innovation skills, and awareness of sustainable development. Research shows that our teaching model plays an important role in the development of student sustainable education, enhancing student engineering practice and innovation capabilities and cultivating applied innovative talents. The efficacy of the teaching model based on the OBE concept and the TSEM framework for improving students’ competence in sustainable education warrants further investigation. Full article

Traditional research and development (R&D) on biomedical materials depends heavily on the trial and error process, thereby leading to huge economic and time burden. Most recently, materials genome technology (MGT) has been recognized as an effective approach to addressing this problem. In this paper, the basic concepts involved in the MGT are introduced, and the applications of MGT in the R&D of metallic, inorganic non-metallic, polymeric, and composite biomedical materials are summarized; in view of the existing limitations of MGT for R&D of biomedical materials, potential strategies are proposed on the establishment and management of material databases, the upgrading of high-throughput experimental technology, the construction of data mining prediction platforms, and the training of relevant materials talents. In the end, future trend of MGT for R&D of biomedical materials is proposed. Full article

In this conceptual paper, we contextualise ongoing attempts to manage challenge dynamics in talent systems in sport. Firstly, we review the broad literature base related to biological maturation, relative age, and the proposed interventions to mitigate effects. We suggest that the relative age effect may be a population level effect, indicative of deeper phenomena, rather than having a direct effect on challenge levels. In contrast, we suggest that biological maturation has a direct effect on challenge at the individual level. Therefore, our main critique of many existing approaches to the management of challenge is a lack of individual nuance and flexibility. We suggest the necessity for talent systems to adopt a more holistic approach, conceptualising biological maturation and relative age within a broader field of “push and pull factors” that impact challenge dynamics in talent development in sport. Finally, we provide practical guidance for talent systems in their approach to relative age and biological maturation, recognising that there is no “gold standard”. Instead, there is a need to recognize the highly individual and contextual nature of these concepts, focusing on strategic coherence through talent systems for the management of selection and development processes. The Fourth Industrial Revolution is an objective result of technological progress, which will radically change the traditional ways of doing business. This will also contribute to radical changes in the human’s role in the labour market. Employees with high qualifications and developed social-behavioural skills will experience high demand in the labour market, and a consequence of this will be necessary transformations of the talent management concept. This study aims to demonstrate the need to change the talent management concept in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. The conducted research is based on the analysis of statistical data regarding labour productivity in the economic system EC-27. Economic and mathematical modelling techniques have been used for the analysis of selected statistical indicators (places of convergence and divergence, places of growth, declining and side trend have been found). As a result of the studies performed, a method of calculating the original Index the lack of talents in the economic system. The results of the completed research demonstrate: on the one hand, on the market, there is a shortage of talent and a transformation of the labour market is required for organizational and technological reasons; on the other hand, the Fourth Industrial Revolution and the accompanying transformation of economic processes create new requirements for human resources. In such conditions, the role of human capital development process management increases significantly, and the necessary transformation of the talent management concept is increasingly becoming a key element that directly determines the sustainable development of social and economic systems. The transition to this concept should proceed through modern technologies and digital solutions, pursuing the main goal, being to provide a continuous process of not only searching for talents but also creating talents by delivering knowledge and forming skills as required by technological progress. Many studies indicate the importance of the management and nurturing of giftedness. They also focus on talent development, primarily, where the main objective is enhancing academic abilities. To achieve this goal, it is necessary to explore the reality of faculty members’ application of talent development standards; this is necessary for laying the practical foundations to enhance the academic abilities of talented students according to the standards for verifying quality, and for clarifying the skills and concepts that are taught. The current study was based on the opinions of 122 faculty members from Saudi public universities who had experiences with gifted students, whereby they answered the following question: Do faculty members apply the standards for developing gifted students at universities? The data were collected by developing an instrument. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics that mostly showed the reality of the application of the selected gifted development standards. The results of the perceptions of the faculty members participating in the study showed differences in the application of the proposed gifted development standards according to their academic rank. Approaches to the concept of workforce diversity have developed in recent years. This subject is now under continuous research by specialists in talent management. Simultaneously with the global tightening of COVID-19 restrictions, companies have been imposed upon to support an increasingly higher diversity, thus noticing corporate cultures stimulating communication, innovation, and superior yield results, attracting the best talent. This article analyzes the data obtained through research work targeting the understanding of companies’ orientation toward diversity in the workplace and the assessment of the policies necessary, focusing on four themes: motivation, innovation and creativity, leadership, and social responsibility. Each analyzed variable influenced diversity in the workplace from a significant level (3.33 for motivation) to a high level (4.00 for innovation/creativity and 4.00 for leadership, and 3.71 for social responsibility), showing a genuine interest in Romanian companies supporting diversity in the workplace. This article presents the development of the Metropolis GZM cities within the scope of the concept of a Smart City and 4T capitals. The subject matter discussed herein is also related to the search for municipal authorities’ new models and tools to shape sustainable development in order to improve citizens’ access to municipal services and facilities, as well as to increase citizens’ impact on the future of their cities. The main objective of the research was to identify the way in which authorities of the selected cities consider the subject matter related to the Smart City and 4T capitals when formulating local policies. The aim of this article is to analyse the innovative potential in selected cities of the Metropolis GZM, in the light of academic entrepreneurship, the innovativeness of citizens, entities supporting innovativeness, and soliciting talent. The research was based on a systematic literature review and the analysis of local documents, supplemented by direct interviews with local managers and participant observation. Full article

Nowadays, the need for scientific and modernized engineering cost management has been increasingly prominent. Hence, this study compared the differences of the quantities’ terms, the management philosophy, the related institutions (or specifications), and other factors in engineering cost management between China and Germany accompanied by a case study for a warehouse building project in China. There are two main parts. Firstly, according to the literature research, the comparative analysis was conducted on the engineering cost-control mode, the list of bills of quantities, and other parameters between China and Germany. On the basis of this, the “differences” between China and Germany especially in the bidding process were further studied with the empirical analysis of engineering cases, which is a supplementary argument to the theoretical analysis. Finally, several related suggestions were put forward, including proposing a set of “universal” bills of quantities (which can be understood by Chinese enterprises and also accepted by foreign-funded enterprises), the establishment of the whole process, a dynamic and information-based project cost-management system, cultivation of talents with the advanced management concept, and the development of international engineering companies and project-management companies with core competitiveness. The conclusions are expected to provide some references for China’s construction industry to further expand the international market and to increase the influences in global markets. Full article

Universities are the best places to gather knowledge and innovation, but the basis of technological development lies in talented R&D personnel who provide services to enterprise R&D activities, research institutions, and universities. Universities also gather many elites who cultivate talent for the country. However, universities do not have adequate technology transfer experience and do not network in industrial circles, which results in a huge gap between the concept and the practical result. This research determined the critical success factors and explored the causal relationships influencing the technology transfer from universities. We found that the main impact of the key factors was the technology market dimension. University technology transfer activities had to be classified as top priority. Technology industrial applicability was the main key evaluation factor, along with inventor attitude. In the organizational culture dimension, the attitude and ability of top management were the main evaluation factors. We attempted to draw upon our analysis results to make recommendations related to technology transfer to assist universities in successfully transferring their research results. Full article

The aim of this paper is to present a systematic literature revision (SLR) that shows the relationship between the concept of employer branding (EB) and talent management (TM). Based on the EB model proposed by Backhaus and Tikoo in 2004, and the macro-contingent model for talent management introduced in 2019 by King and Vaiman, we intend both to analyse the theory correlating the EB concept and TM, and to identify TM dimensions that are reflected on the EB concept. A systematic literature revision was carried out using the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews (PRISMA) protocol in order to identify and sum up the most relevant studies of the last 10 years concerning these topics. Findings show that scientific literature on the subject grew considerably in the last four years, reflecting the rising concern over the creation of an employer brand at the organisational level. EB explores talent attraction and retention particularly, though, unexpectedly, is also becoming a concept explored by nations to attract a qualified workforce. Analysing selected articles, we may conclude that EB is clearly considered as a tool within the largest process of talent management. Full article

In Taiwan, the Ministry of Education started promoting computational thinking (CT) and design skills in the programming curriculum in 2018 at all universities. CT, which has been widely discussed in the field of education, is the ability to solve problems that use computer science concepts. For students in non-information technology fields, such as nursing students, a curriculum that integrates nursing education and information literacy can bolster evidence-based practice, enhance professional development, and encourage lifelong learning. However, the programming courses were difficult for non-information learners to apprehend, given their lack of knowledge in programming, and had a low attrition rate. Therefore, it is necessary to establish a sustainable management system in the learning process. It is also important to support the interest and confidence of the nursing learner in the programming curriculum. In this study, a programming course for nursing students was completed. A talent quality-management system (TTQS) for this programming course was built and implemented. A technology acceptance model and learning attitude questionnaires were administered to investigate learners’ learning motivation and information literacy. Two nursing classes with 74 freshmen participated in the curriculum in the second semester of the 2020 academic year. The results showed that TTQS, which supports teachers in adjusting pedagogy in a timely manner, can enhance learners’ motivation and performance. In this programming course, nursing students can learn CT and information concepts and improve their learning motivation through the design of learner-centred and collaborative learning. Full article

The paper deals with the issue of increasing the efficiency of business management using modern management methods and tools in tourism enterprises. The basis of the paper form hypotheses focused on the use of the concept of Balanced Scorecard, controlling, benchmarking, and talent management within the tourism enterprises. Based on the p-value (0.576) in the case of first hypothesis, we can confirm that there is no statistically significant relationship between the openness of hotels to change, innovation, and the willingness to introduce controlling into management. The p-value (0.004) achieved in the case of the second hypothesis confirmed a statistically significant relationship between the hotel classification category and the use of the modern methods in plan design. In the third hypothesis, we examined whether hotels focusing on the sales maximization tend to use their capital for modernization. Based on the validity of the inequality p-value (0.080), we confirm that there is no statistically significant relationship between the pricing approach and the use of capital. Searching strategic tool in management of a business in tourism is still an actual issue. Businesses are especially managed by financial indicators, but modern methods show the growing significance of non-financial indicators. Full article
