The green behaviors of engineering project designers can improve the green performance of engineering projects. Moral factors are likely to influence designers’ behavior related to green design. Therefore, this study takes mindfulness leadership as a new antecedent of green behavior and explores how mindfulness leadership influences the green behaviors of designers. Based on social cognitive theory, this study proposes that mindfulness leadership stimulates the designers to exhibit green behaviors. Then, this study used a survey design and adopted partial least squares structural equation modeling to examine the hypotheses. The results indicate that mindfulness leadership is positively associated with green voice behavior (β = 0.313), green knowledge-sharing behavior (β = 0.281), and green helping behavior (β = 0.353). Moreover, moral identity mediates the main effect (βa = 0.131, βb = 0.147, βc = 0.169). These quantitative findings substantiate that mindfulness leadership can effectively motivate designers to provide eco-conscious solutions, share sustainability knowledge, and collaborate on green improvements. The study equips project managers with evidence-based strategies to cultivate moral identity and leadership practices that systematically enhance environmental performance in engineering design contexts. The aging communities within traditional historical and cultural districts in the post-epidemic era face numerous challenges, including declining vitality, deteriorating environments, sluggish economies, and heightened public health risks. This paper aims to explore strategies for promoting the internal self-development of aging communities and enhancing their resilience. It analyzes the resilience of these communities through four dimensions: social factors, built environments, economic factors, and ecological environments. Using the Sizhou’an community in China as a case study, this paper examines the underlying causes of vulnerability and proposes renewal strategies. These strategies include stimulating the vitality of elderly groups, improving the community’s spatial environment, leveraging regional cultural advantages, and establishing urban community agricultural gardens. Furthermore, it presents a community renewal model characterized by “government guidance + community leadership + capital introduction + resident participation” to bolster community resilience and vitality, thereby ensuring sustainable development. The present research attempted to investigate the relationship between leadership styles and job satisfaction for civilian personnel of the Ministry of Defense. The research was carried out during the months of May and June in the year 2022. The Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire (M.L.Q.-5X) and the Employee Satisfaction Inventory (ESI) were given via the Internet in digital form to 127 participating technical employees and civilian personnel who served in this specific period in various services of the Ministry of National Defense of Greece. The survey data were statistically analyzed using SPSS program v.22. The results of the dimensional correlations between leadership styles and job satisfaction showed that idealized influence (both attributes and behavior), inspirational motivation, intellectual stimulation, individual consideration, and contingent rewards were positively related to overall employee satisfaction. In contrast, management by exception (active) was not correlated with overall satisfaction. Furthermore, management by exception (passive) and laissez-faire leadership were negatively correlated with overall job satisfaction. Accordingly, the statistical findings of the dimensional correlations concerning the relationship between the three dimensions of leadership outcomes and job satisfaction showed that extra effort, effectiveness, and satisfaction with leadership were positively related to overall satisfaction. Higher effect sizes were reported for the correlation between the contingent reward dimension of process leadership and employee satisfaction, indicating that processing leadership has a stronger effect on the satisfaction of the technical employees of the Ministry of National Defense compared to transformational leadership dimensions. We assume that this result is due to the special characteristics of the Ministry of National Defense workplace. Full article

This study advances newcomers’ socialization research by identifying and investigating the antecedents of newcomers’ proactive behaviors, a perspective often overlooked within the current studies, which primarily focuses on the outcomes of such behaviors. Based on the proactive motivation model, our core hypothesis is that inclusive leadership allows newcomers to experience psychological changes in control beliefs (can-do motivation), state promotion focus (reason-to motivation), and positive affect (energized-to motivation), which are stimulated following proactive behaviors. We further consider an individual values variable—individual power distance orientation—as the boundary condition on the influence of inclusive leadership. Research was conducted on 353 newcomers with less than one year of work experience to test the above hypothesis. The results show that inclusive leadership positively and indirectly influences the newcomers’ proactive behaviors via state promotion focus and positive affect. However, the mediating effect of control beliefs was not significant. Furthermore, the positive association between inclusive leadership and two kinds of newcomer proactive motivations, and their accompanying indirect impacts on newcomers’ proactive behaviors, was proved stronger at lower levels of individual power distance orientation. Additionally, it has been discovered in a follow-up complementary study that the effect of control beliefs on newcomers’ proactive behaviors is transmitted through positive affect. Full article

Faculty’s voice behavior is crucial in promoting institutional reform and sustainable development in higher education institutions. However, there is still significant room for exploration regarding how to effectively stimulate such behavior among faculty. This study, based on data collected from 630 Chinese university faculty, investigates the conditions under which mission valence can promote voice behavior in higher education settings. The study involved constructing a moderated mediation model, with thriving at work as the mediator and servant leadership as the moderator, to explore the relationship between mission valence and faculty’s voice behavior. The results reveal that mission valence has a significant positive impact on faculty’s voice behavior in higher education and indirectly promotes such behavior through the mediating role of thriving at work. Furthermore, it was found that servant leadership plays a significant moderating role in the relationship between thriving at work and faculty’s voice behavior, enhancing the overall mediation mechanism. This study extends our understanding of the relationship between mission valence and faculty’s voice behavior in the context of Chinese higher education and provides practical insights into strategies for promoting faculty’s voice behavior. The development of leadership competencies is a current topic in the scientific community. The weaknesses detected in our study reflect the limited treatment offered to this area of work and the current struggle of rural elementary school directors in navigating the challenges of the digital era. The following methods and techniques were used at the theoretical and empirical levels: analytical–synthetic, historical–logical, inductive–deductive, systemic, documentary analysis, observation, surveys, interviews, and self-assessment scales. The systematized theory is based on the process of development of leadership competence in school directors as a dimension of educational quality. This research introduced a professional development strategy for the development of leadership competence in primary school directors consisting of three stages, with their objectives and actions contributing to raising the scientific methodological level of these management teams, including workshops, consultancies, accompaniments, and case studies, as well as monitoring their transformation. The proposed strategy improves the educational leadership skills of school principals, encourages mastery of content, and increases the degree of motivation and interest in management work. It is based on the diagnosis of their reality, and it includes the combination of improvement, methodological, and self-improvement actions to stimulate reflection and the active involvement of participants in their own transformation process. Enhancing the sustainability of the non-timber forest products industry has dual significance for both the management of local forest resources and socio-economic development. This paper adopts a systems theory perspective to construct an analytical model for the sustainable development of non-timber forest products, based on a “social-economic-natural” framework. By analyzing case studies of non-timber forest products industry sustainability from four underdeveloped counties in China, the paper derives the following main conclusions and insights: The sustainability of non-timber forest products development models is influenced by factors such as resource endowments and institutional environments and includes both single and composite models. Underdeveloped regions can achieve considerable sustainability in the development of non-timber forest products, but this requires a rational allocation of six key elements—policy, model, stakeholders, natural resources, funding, and technology—to stimulate industry growth. To promote the sustainable development of this industry, optimization should be pursued across five aspects: “policy leadership and top-level design to guide industry development”, “selection of appropriate development models based on local natural endowments and socio-economic foundations”, “large enterprise-driven mechanisms to form multi-stakeholder interest connections”, “focus on product technology research and development, and establishment of technical training mechanisms”, and “market-driven funding to develop product sales markets”. In the quantum era, the rapid development of enterprises cannot be separated from the efforts of employees, and the improvement of employee performance is also closely related to the behavior and attitude of organizational leaders. Quantum leadership, as a new leadership paradigm, differs from traditional Newtonian classical mechanics in that it emphasizes wholeness and interconnectedness, considers new ideas as the key to success, and values complex changes in the organizational environment, thus helping the organization provide sustainable development in the future. In addition, quantum leadership is able to manage in chaotic and potentially uncertain environments, encouraging employees to explore new ideas for solving problems, stimulating enthusiasm and motivation for innovation, and thus improving the level of employee performance. In particular, as the importance of innovation performance has been emphasized, it has been considered as a key variable in driving and promoting sustainable organizational development. Moreover, this study is different from previous studies that validate traditional leadership. We focus on an emerging type of leadership that distinguishes itself from traditional leadership—quantum leadership—which is a leadership model that is currently receiving a lot of attention. In the uncertain future environment, quantum leadership is gradually becoming a key factor for business growth and plays an important role in the survival and development of organizations in the future environment. Based on this research background, this study argues that quantum leadership is closely related to employee innovation performance. This study examines whether quantum leadership improves employee innovation performance and the sequential multiple mediating effects of organizational intelligence and knowledge sharing. Most of the previous studies focused only on the mediating or moderating role of the model. This study expands this area of research by incorporating the moderating role of innovative culture and validating its effects. This finding explores the development of quantum leadership and provides a theoretical foundation for related research. In addition, this study collected data from 345 employees of Chinese SMEs in the context of the fourth industrial revolution. These results suggest that quantum leadership positively affects innovation performance. Organizational intelligence and knowledge sharing have multiple serial mediating effects on quantum leadership and innovation performance. Moreover, the interaction between innovative culture and knowledge sharing improves employees’ innovation performance. Therefore, this study clarifies the causal relationship between quantum leadership and innovation performance through theoretical and validated research models. It lays the foundation for the sustainable development of organizations in the future. Full article

This study interrogates the changes in the roles and status of women in the Nigerian Baptist Convention, the largest Baptist denomination in Africa, with over 10,104 churches and about 11 million members. This paper attempts to answer the critical question of how and what processes stimulated and sustained the changes in the role and status of women among Nigerian Baptists from the colonial period to the contemporary era. This paper relied on primary source publications, interviews, and secondary publications, which provided invaluable data in analysing the historical and contemporary issues that have resulted in the changing roles and status of women in the Nigerian Baptist Convention. This study found that against patriarchal traditions that subordinated women to domestic activities in the homes, such factors as access to formal education, the formation of Women’s Missionary Union as an institutional framework to mainstream women’s religious activities, the employment of women with doctoral degrees as theological educators in Baptist seminaries in the 1980s, the ordination of women as Baptist ministers in the late 1990s, and the appointment of women to key positions in the Nigerian Baptist Convention were major factors that moved women from traditional subordinate positions to public leadership in the church. Generally, this has indirectly stirred a process of empowerment for women and agitation for equality with men in the NBC in the past one hundred years. This study concluded that this development has moved women from supportive roles to taking up significant leadership positions within an African patriarchal cultural system. Full article

In sustainable and competitive business management, it is crucial for organizations to consider organizational change and transformational leadership in human resource (HR) management to adapt to the changes in their environment. This capability enables large-scale enterprises to maintain their presence in an increasingly competitive environment through enhanced management capacity. Enterprises that adopt transformational leadership in HR management must equip leadership candidates with competencies such as creating a shared vision, providing appropriate role models, encouraging the adoption of group goals, meeting high performance expectations, and providing individual support and the development of intellectual stimulation. By identifying potential leadership candidates using a decision support model, the necessary competencies can be developed through in-service training and experiential learning during their careers. Innovative and effective approaches to identifying leadership candidates can be developed by analyzing complex big data using advanced artificial intelligence (AI) techniques. In this article, a forecast model using machine learning (ML) algorithms for a human resource management career planning approach was developed for the Turkish Post Corporation (PTT) and it was tested to predict potential leadership candidates by analyzing the big data of 5000 employees. The Turkish Post Corporation ML algorithms were applied to 100 randomly selected data points using the k-Nearest Neighbor (kNN), Random Forest (RF), Gradient Boosting (GB), and Support Vector Machine (SVM) algorithms to predict the types of titles held by the staff employed at PTT. The kNN, GB, RF, and SVM algorithms achieved accuracy rates of 96%, 91%, 73%, and 41%, respectively. The case study results indicate that promotion decisions in large-scale and rooted enterprises can be effectively modeled using big data and ML algorithms, highlighting significant potential for HR management and leadership development practices in the public sector. In the school context, the teacher–student interaction style plays a pivotal role in ensuring optimal adolescent functioning. Over recent years, the significance of transformational teacher leadership in fostering student engagement and positive development has been underscored. This study aimed to examine the correlations between transformational leadership and adolescent self-esteem, motor self-efficacy, enjoyment in physical education classes, and intention for future physical activity. This research used an associative and predictive strategy. A total of 429 adolescents from Málaga, aged between 14 and 16 years (M = 14.97; SD = 0.85), participated in this research, which employed an associative, comparative, and predictive approach. The Transformational Teaching Questionnaire (TTQ), Motor Self-Efficacy Scale (MSES), Intrinsic Satisfaction in Sport Instrument (SSI-EF), and Intention of Being Physically Active Scale (MIFA) were utilized for variable assessment. Correlation, Multiple Regression, and cluster analyses revealed statistically significant correlations between transformational leadership and self-esteem, motor self-efficacy, enjoyment, and future activity intention. Specifically, it was revealed that motivational inspiration predicts self-esteem, motor self-efficacy, enjoyment, and intention for physical activity, whereas intellectual stimulation predicts motor self-efficacy, enjoyment, and intention for physical activity. Notably, the transformational leadership factors of intellectual stimulation and motivational inspiration were observed to predict scores across other variables, particularly enjoyment in physical education classes, both overall and by gender. These findings suggest that transformational leadership in physical education classes can significantly enhance student experiences, thereby promoting adherence to physical activity and healthy lifestyles among adolescents. Since the early 1990s, professional learning communities (PLCs) have been widely recognized as an effective, extensively researched approach to professional development, school improvement, and student learning enhancement as well as leadership development within educational settings. Nevertheless, there remains a scarcity of research concerning the impact of this approach to professional development within the context of initial teacher education. The present study is one of the first to systematically examine the possibilities and potential of PLCs for student teachers in their practical pedagogical studies (internship). In particular, the study examines whether Student-Teacher PLCs (ST-PLCs) can be implemented in pre-teacher education and the perceptions of student teachers concerning their participation and professional learning within an ST-PLC. A total of 56 students from the University of Education Vorarlberg (Austria), the University of Málaga (Spain), and the European University Cyprus participated in the study, responding to an online questionnaire and engaging in focus-group interviews. The data collected indicated that ST-PLCs serve as a robust strategy for collaborative learning and the development of professional competencies. An analysis of the qualitative data showed that ST-PLCs are spaces where the reflection and analysis of teaching-related topics are stimulated, supported, shared, encouraged, and enhanced. The research focuses on the impact of transformational leadership on the decision to stay mediated by commitment after a court refusal regarding illegal extraordinary congress involving the outsiders of a political party in Indonesia (in this case, it is the Democratic Party currently led by Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono), where this phenomenon is classified as a crisis. Theories and the previous literature pointed out that transformational leadership would significantly affect an individual’s decision to stay with the institution through commitment. Therefore, this research empirically analyzes the hypotheses using quantitative methods on 349 respondents who are central (DPP) and local (DPD and DPC) active committees of the Democratic Party. Respondents are collected using cluster random sampling. Referring to theories and the previous literature, the latent variables of this research are constructed using dimensions. Transformational leadership (TL) has four dimensions which are charisma (idealized influence), inspirational motivation, intellectual stimulation, and individual considerations. Commitment has three dimensions which are affective, normative, and sustainable commitments. The decision to stay has two dimensions, which are intrinsic and extrinsic motivations. By using Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Square (SEM–PLS), the research revealed that the direct effect shows that transformational leadership and commitment significantly influence the decision to stay. On the other hand, the indirect effect indicates that commitment significantly mediates the relationship between transformational leadership and the decision to stay. The result indicates strong transformational leadership performed by Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono as the chief of the Democratic Party in Indonesia. Full article

Transformational leadership has been proposed as an approach that can inspire effective change. How this is manifest in schools is understudied in Irish primary schools, which have undergone significant change in recent years. The focus of this qualitative research study was primary school and system leaders’ knowledge of transformational school leadership, perceived benefits, limitations, and feasibility, and how transformational school leadership actually manifests in practice. Participants were recruited using purposive sampling. In-depth interviews were carried out with principals, deputy and assistant principals, and former school inspectors, with the interviews aligned to the following research questions: (1) How can we characterize school and system leaders’ knowledge, understanding and perceptions regarding the feasibility of transformational school leadership? (2) How do transformational school leadership behaviours manifest in primary school settings? Data analysis yielded the following themes and sub-themes: (1) Understanding of transformational school leadership: (i) transformation, change and growth, (ii) relationships, (iii) vision, mission, and goals, (iv) leading; (2) Perceptions of feasibility of transformational school leadership: (i) realism, (ii) people and relationships, (iii) practical challenges; (3) Benefits of transformational school leadership: (i) aspiration, (ii) culture, (iii) motivation and modelling, (iv) school community, (v) delivering quality learning; (4) Limitations of transformational school leadership: (i) personality, (ii) pressure, (iii) slow process, (iv) unexpected variables; (5) Manifestations of transformational school leadership: (i) idealised influence, (ii) inspirational motivation, (iii) individualised consideration, (iv) intellectual stimulation, (v) school development, (vi) improving curricular offerings. Participants’ positive disposition to transformational school leadership was encouraging and suggests the need for further research, specifically to examine potential synergy between transformational and distributed school leadership. The ability of management to influence employee attitudes and behaviours towards organizational goals is pivotal for an organization’s competitiveness, development, and survival. The study’s objective was to investigate the link between entrepreneurial leadership, competitive advantage, and manufacturing development, mediated by employees’ innovative behaviour, via the lens of resource-based view theory. Convenience sampling was used to collect quantitative data from the 378 manufacturing sector employees through the use of a cross-sectional design. There is a lack of research on the underlying mechanisms by which leaders influence organizational processes, such as innovation stimulation. This study explores the psychological mechanisms influencing entrepreneurial leadership and employee innovative behaviour, revealing that entrepreneurial leadership reduces work uncertainty, encourages innovation, and significantly impacts a firm’s competitive advantage in the market. The findings of the study revealed that entrepreneurial leadership fosters an encouraging and supportive environment in the workplace, which in turn leads to a sustainable competitive advantage. Additionally, the findings showed that innovative behaviour significantly mediates the relationship between entrepreneurial leadership and competitive advantage. By expanding the applicability of resource-based view theory, the results of this research also contribute to the comprehension of the interplay between innovative attitudes, manufactural development, competitive advantage, and leadership, specifically in the context of manufacturing sector organizations.
