High-precision time–frequency systems are essential for low Earth orbit (LEO) navigation satellites to achieve real-time (RT) centimeter-level positioning services. However, subject to stringent size, power, and cost constraints, LEO satellites are typically equipped with oven-controlled crystal oscillators (OCXOs) as the system clock. The inherent long-term stability of OCXOs leads to rapid clock error accumulation, severely degrading positioning accuracy. To simultaneously balance multi-dimensional requirements such as clock bias accuracy, and frequency stability and phase continuity, this study proposes a linear quadratic Gaussian (LQG) frequency precision steering method that integrates a four-dimensional constraint integrated (FDCI) model and hierarchical weight optimization. An improved system error model is refined to quantify the covariance components (Σ11, Σ22) of the LQG closed-loop control system. Then, based on the FDCI model that explicitly incorporates quantization noise, frequency adjustment, frequency stability, and clock bias variance, a priority-driven collaborative optimization mechanism systematically determines the weight matrices, ensuring a robust tradeoff among multiple performance criteria. Experiments on OCXO payload products, with micro-step actuation, demonstrate that the proposed method reduces the clock error RMS to 0.14 ns and achieves multi-timescale stability enhancement. The short-to-long-term frequency stability reaches 9.38 × 10−13 at 100 s, and long-term frequency stability is 4.22 × 10−14 at 10,000 s, representing three orders of magnitude enhancement over a free-running OCXO. Compared to conventional PID control (clock bias RMS 0.38 ns) and pure Kalman filtering (stability 6.1 × 10−13 at 10,000 s), the proposed method reduces clock bias by 37% and improves stability by 93%. The impact of quantization noise on short-term stability (1–40 s) is contained within 13%. The principal novelty arises from the systematic integration of theoretical constraints and performance optimization within a unified framework. This approach comprehensively enhances the time–frequency performance of OCXOs, providing a low-cost, high-precision timing–frequency reference solution for LEO satellites. Full article

The increasing incorporation of renewable energy into power grids has significantly reduced system inertia and damping, posing challenges to frequency stability and power quality. To address this issue, an adaptive virtual synchronous generator (VSG) control strategy is proposed, which dynamically adjusts virtual inertia and damping in response to real-time frequency variations. Virtual inertia is modulated by an exponential function according to the frequency variation rate, while damping is regulated via a hyperbolic tangent function, enabling minor support during small disturbances and robust compensation during severe events. Control parameters are optimized using an enhanced particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm based on a composite performance index that accounts for frequency deviation, overshoot, settling time, and power tracking error. Simulation results in MATLAB/Simulink under step changes, load fluctuations, and single-phase faults demonstrate that the proposed method reduces the frequency deviation by over 26.15% compared to fixed-parameter and threshold-based adaptive VSG methods, effectively suppresses power overshoot, and eliminates secondary oscillations. The proposed approach significantly enhances grid transient stability and demonstrates strong potential for application in power systems with high levels of renewable energy integration. Full article

This study investigates pre-seismic ionospheric anomalies preceding the 2023 Jishishan Ms6.2 earthquake using total electron content (TEC) data derived from BDS geostationary orbit (GEO) satellites. Multi-scale analysis integrating Butterworth filtering and wavelet transforms resolved TEC disturbances into three distinct frequency regimes: (1) high-frequency perturbations (0.56–3.33 mHz) showed localized disturbances (amplitude ≤ 4 TECU, range < 300 km), potentially associated with near-field acoustic waves from crustal stress adjustments; (2) mid-frequency signals (0.28–0.56 mHz) exhibited anisotropic propagation (>1200 km) with azimuth-dependent N-shaped waveforms, consistent with the characteristics of acoustic–gravity waves (AGWs); and (3) low-frequency components (0.18–0.28 mHz) demonstrated phase reversal and power-law amplitude attenuation, suggesting possible lithosphere–atmosphere–ionosphere (LAI) coupling oscillations. The stark contrast between near-field residuals and far-field weak fluctuations highlighted the dominance of large-scale atmospheric gravity waves over localized acoustic disturbances. Geometry-based velocity inversion revealed incoherent high-frequency dynamics (5–30 min) versus anisotropic mid/low-frequency traveling ionospheric disturbance (TID) propagation (30–90 min) at 175–270 m/s, aligning with theoretical AGW behavior. During concurrent G1-class geomagnetic storm activity, spatial attenuation gradients and velocity anisotropy appear primarily consistent with seismogenic sources, providing insights for precursor discrimination and contributing to understanding multi-scale coupling in seismo-ionospheric systems. Hydraulic excavators operate in harsh environments where direct measurement of actuator chamber pressures and boom displacement is often unreliable or infeasible. This study presents a novel control strategy that estimates actuator chamber pressures from work port pressures using differential equations, eliminating the need for direct pressure or position sensors. A fuzzy logic-based proportional–derivative (PD) controller is developed to mitigate boom oscillations, particularly under high-inertia load conditions and variable operator inputs. The controller dynamically adjusts gains through fuzzy logic-based gain scheduling, enhancing adaptability across a wide range of operating conditions. The proposed method addresses the limitations of classical PID controllers, which struggle with the nonlinearities, parameter uncertainties, and instability introduced by counterbalance valves and pressure-compensated proportional valves. Experimental data is used to design fuzzy rules and membership functions, ensuring robust performance. Simulation and full-scale experimental validation demonstrate that the fuzzy PD controller significantly reduces pressure overshoot (by 23% during extension and 32% during retraction) and decreases settling time (by 31.23% and 28%, respectively) compared to conventional systems. Frequency-domain stability analysis confirms exponential stability and improved damping characteristics. The proposed control scheme enhances system reliability and safety, making it ideal for excavators operating in remote or rugged terrains where conventional sensor-based systems may fail. This approach is generalizable and does not require modifications to the existing hydraulic circuit, offering a practical and scalable solution for modern hydraulic machinery. Full article

Background: Even with advanced management involving pharmacologic and ventilatory strategies, respiratory dysfunction increases morbidity and reduces the quality of life. This narrative review examines how craniofacial and cervical manipulative interventions—including nasomaxillary skeletal expansion, breathing re-education, and structural techniques—may holistically optimize airway function by enhancing neurological and lymphatic dynamics, modulating vagal tone, reducing pharyngeal collapsibility, and supporting immune regulation across diverse clinical settings. Objectives: To explore manual techniques that influence respiratory and autonomic function and to evaluate their reported clinical efficacy and supporting evidence, particularly in the context of airway disorders such as asthma and pneumonia. Methods: A narrative review of the literature from PubMed and Google Scholar was conducted using search terms related to airway function and osteopathic manipulative techniques (OMTs). The inclusion criteria spanned 2010–2025 English-language peer-reviewed full-text articles on airway function, OMT, and emergency airway maneuvers. Clinical trials, observational studies, and reviews were included; non-peer-reviewed content and animal studies (unless mechanistically relevant) were excluded. Chapman’s reflexes related to respiratory function were incorporated to highlight somatic–visceral correlations. Key Findings: The techniques reviewed included frontal lift, vomer manipulation, maxillary and zygomatic balancing, and cervical adjustments. Thoracic OMT methods, such as diaphragm doming and lymphatic pump techniques, were also addressed. Emergency techniques, such as the BURP and Larson maneuvers, prone positioning, and high-frequency chest wall oscillation, were presented as comparative strategies to OMTs for acute airway management. Conclusions: Craniofacial and cervical manipulations can be a promising adjunct for enhancing airway function. However, the current literature displays heterogeneity and lack of large-scale randomized trials, which emphasize the necessity for standardized research and the establishment of clinical guidelines with the collected evidence. This work presents a current-controlled CMOS ring oscillator (CCRO) optimized for ultra-low-voltage applications in next-generation energy-constrained systems. Leveraging bulk voltage tuning in 22 nm FDSOI differential inverter stages, the topology enables frequency adjustment while operating MOSFETs in the subthreshold region—critical for minimizing power in sub-1 V environments. Simulations at 0.4 V supply demonstrate robust performance: a three-stage oscillator achieves a 537–800 MHz tuning range with bias current (IBIAS) modulation from 30–130 nA, while a four-stage configuration spans 388–587 MHz. At 70 nA IBIAS, the three-stage design delivers a nominal frequency of 666.8 MHz with just 10.23 µW power dissipation, underscoring its suitability for ultra-low-power IoT and biomedical applications. The oscillator’s linear frequency sensitivity (2.63 MHz/nA) allows precise, dynamic control over performance–power tradeoffs. To address diverse application needs, the design integrates three tunability mechanisms: programmable capacitor arrays for coarse frequency adjustments, configurable stage counts (three- or four-stage topologies), and supply voltage scaling. This multi-modal approach extends the operational range to 1 MHz–1 GHz, ensuring compatibility with low-speed sensor interfaces and high-speed edge-computing tasks. The CCRO’s subthreshold operation at 0.4 V—coupled with nanoampere-level current consumption—makes it uniquely suited for battery-less systems, wearable health monitors, and implantable medical devices where energy efficiency and adaptive clocking are paramount. By eliminating traditional voltage-controlled oscillators’ complexity, this topology offers a compact, scalable solution for emerging ultra-low-power technologies. Full article

In recent years, the realization of a society in which humans and robots coexist has become highly anticipated. As a result, robots are expected to exhibit versatility regardless of their operating environments, along with high responsiveness, to ensure safety and enable dynamic task execution. To meet these demands, we design a comprehensive system composed of two primary components: high-speed skeleton tracking and path planning. For tracking, we implement a high-speed skeleton tracking method that combines deep learning-based detection with optical flow-based motion extraction. In addition, we introduce a dynamic search area adjustment technique that focuses on the target joint to extract the desired motion more accurately. For path planning, we propose a high-speed, geometry-informed potential field model that addresses four key challenges: (P1) avoiding local minima, (P2) suppressing oscillations, (P3) ensuring adaptability to dynamic environments, and (P4) handling obstacles with arbitrary 3D shapes. We validated the effectiveness of our high-frequency feedback control and the proposed system through a series of simulations and real-world collision-free path planning experiments. Our high-speed skeleton tracking operates at 250 Hz, which is eight times faster than conventional deep learning-based methods, and our path planning method runs at over 10,000 Hz. The proposed system offers both versatility across different working environments and low latencies. Therefore, we hope that it will contribute to a foundational motion generation framework for human–robot collaboration (HRC), applicable to a wide range of downstream tasks while ensuring safety in dynamic environments. This paper presents a resonant wireless power transfer method that leverages a 90-degree voltage phase shift between the transmitting and receiving coils to enhance efficiency and maximize power transfer. When the resonant coupling is achieved, the secondary coil with an adjustable capacitor forms a tuned LC circuit. If the primary coil is driven at the resonant frequency of both the primary and secondary sides, the system can transmit 250W of power between the coils over a distance of 50 cm. Using a single power transmitting unit (PTU) board with multiple paralleled gallium nitride high-electron-mobility transistors (GaN HEMTs), the system achieves a maximum power transfer efficiency of 88%, highlighting the effectiveness of the design in high-efficiency, long-distance wireless power transmission. The key to the success of high-power, high-efficiency RWPT is in exhibiting the imaginary turn ratio presented on the air transformer. The imaginary turn ratio can realize the negative impedance conversion that converts the positive resistance on the power-receiving unit into a negative one, and thus, the damping of the resonance oscillation becomes negative and positively encourages more power to be delivered to the power-receiving unit (PRU) load. This paper derives the theory of the imaginary turn ratio and demonstrates the implementation of the RWPT system that exhibits the imaginary turn ratio effect. Full article

A grid-forming converter (GFM) controls power output by adjusting the phase angle and amplitude of its output voltage, providing voltage and frequency support to the power system and effectively enhancing system stability. However, it has limitations in current control, influencing the current only indirectly through voltage regulation, which results in weaker control over current waveform quality. In the context of a large number of renewable energy generation units being connected to the grid, harmonics in the grid voltage can lead to excessively high harmonic content in the grid current, exceeding standard limits and causing oscillations. To solve this problem, this paper proposes a control strategy of harmonic voltage feedforward compensation to suppress grid current distortion. The proposed control strategy extracts harmonic voltages from the output port of the GFM converter through a harmonic extraction module, processes them via a feedforward factor, and introduces the resulting signals into the converter’s control loop as feedforward compensation terms. This allows the converter’s output voltage to compensate for the harmonic components in the grid, achieving the improvement of grid current and reducing the total harmonic distortion (THD) value. The effectiveness of the proposed control strategy is verified by simulation results. Full article

Distributed radar networks have emerged as a key technology in remote sensing and surveillance due to their high transmission power and robustness against node failures. When performing coherent beamforming with multiple radars, frequency and phase deviations introduced by independent oscillators lead to a decrease in transmission power. This paper proposes an optimized diffuse Kalman filter (ODKF) for the frequency and phase synchronization. Specifically, each radar locally estimates its frequency and phase, then shares this information with neighboring nodes, which are used for incremental update and diffusion update to adjust local estimates. To further reduce synchronization errors, we incorporate a self-feedback strategy in the diffusion step, in which each node balances its own estimate with neighbor information by optimizing the diagonal weights in the diffusion matrix. Numerical simulations demonstrate the superior performance of the proposed method in terms of mean squared deviation (MSD) and convergence speed. Full article

The efficiency of helical locomotion in snake-like robots along high-voltage transmission lines is often hindered by low motion efficiency, high joint signal noise, and challenges in traversing obstacles. This study aims to address these issues by proposing a gait generation method that leverages a standardized Central Pattern Generator (CPG). We modify the traditional Hopf-CPG model by incorporating constraint functions and a frequency-tuning mechanism to regulate the oscillator, which allows for the generation of asymmetric waveform signals for deflection joints and facilitates rapid convergence. The method begins by determining initial and obstacle-crossing state parameters, such as deflection angles and helical radii of the snake-like robot, using the backbone curve method and the Frenet–Serret framework. Subsequently, a CPG neural network is constructed based on Hopf oscillators, with a limit cycle convergent speed adjustment factor and amplitude bias signals to establish a fully connected matrix model for calculating multi-joint output signals. Simulation analysis using Simulink–CoppeliaSim evaluates the robot’s obstacle-crossing ability and the optimization of deflection joint signal noise. The results indicate a 55.70% increase in the robot’s average speed during cable traversal, a 57.53% reduction in deflection joint noise disturbance, and successful crossing of the vibration damper. This gait generation method significantly enhances locomotion efficiency and noise suppression in snake-like robots, offering substantial advantages over traditional approaches. Full article

To avoid additional component losses while significantly improving the energy conversion efficiency of battery energy storage systems, the application of series-connected partial power converter (S-PPC) technology in battery energy storage systems is investigated in this study. In the S-PPC battery energy storage system configuration, coupling effects exist between the dc-link side and the battery-series side. The impedance modeling of a battery energy storage system is performed while taking these coupling effects into consideration. To address the instability observed during battery discharge conditions, an impedance reshaping control strategy that is suitable for the S-PPC battery energy storage system is proposed. The proposed method focuses on adjusting the input impedance of the load converter within a limited frequency band centered on the system’s oscillation frequency. This targeted approach significantly improves the stability of the system while ensuring ease of implementation and maintaining high reliability. Finally, the experimental results validate the theoretical analysis. Full article

Overvoltage Suppression Strategy for VSG-Based DFIGs Under Commutation Failures of HVDC Transmission Systems

Virtual synchronous generator (VSG) control, which can provide inertia output, damp power oscillations, and offer frequency and voltage support to power grids, has become a growing trend in the control field of wind power generation. As a new technology, there are still challenges that VSG control has not solved well, such as transient overvoltage suppression. A kind of transient overvoltage, which often occurs during the commutation failures of HVDC transmission systems, will trigger a mass of wind turbine generators (WTGs) disconnecting from grids. To reduce the grid-disconnection risk of the virtual synchronous generator control-based doubly fed induction generators (VSG-DFIGs), this paper first analyzes the mechanism of the automatic voltage regulation (AVR) control usually employed by VSG-DFIGs, then proposes measures to suppress the transient overvoltage. To solve the problem of the reactive power response lag issued by VSG-DFIGs, which will further aggravate the transient overvoltage in continuous low and high voltage faults, the time constant of the AVR control is switched. To fully exploit the potential of the DFIGs’ reactive power support, the droop coefficient of the AVR control is switched during the abnormal voltage stages. The switched droop coefficient will change the rotor excitation current magnitude, thus adjusting the internal potential of a DFIG, finally better supporting or suppressing the terminal voltage during the low or high voltage periods. Simulation results based on the DIgSILENT/PowerFactory platform demonstrate that the proposed method can effectively suppress the transient overvoltage that occurs in continuous low and high voltage events caused by the commutation failures of HVDC transmission systems, reducing the number of WTGs disconnecting from the grids. Rapid High-Precision Ranging Technique for Multi-Frequency BDS Signals

The rapid expansion of BeiDou satellite navigation applications has led to a growing demand for real-time high-precision positioning services. Currently, high-precision positioning services face challenges such as a long initialization time and heavy reliance on reference station networks, thereby failing to fulfill the requirements for real-time, wide-area, and centimeter-level positioning. In this study, we consider the multi-frequency signals that are broadcast by a satellite to share a common reference clock and possess identical RF channels and propagation paths with strict temporal, spectral, and spatial coupling between signal components, resulting in strongly coherent propagation delays. Firstly, we accurately establish a multi-frequency signal model that fully exploits those coherent characteristics among the multi-frequency BDS signals. Subsequently, we propose a rapid high-precision ranging technique using the code and carrier phases of multi-frequency signals. The proposed method unitizes multi-frequency signals via a coherent joint processing unit consisting of a joint tracking state estimator and a coherent signal generator. The joint tracking state estimator simultaneously estimates the biased pseudorange and its change rate, ionospheric delay and its change rate, and ambiguities. The coherent signal generator updates the numerically controlled oscillator (NCO) to adjust the local reference signal’s code and carrier replicas of different frequencies, changing them according to the state estimated by the joint tracking state estimator. Finally, the simulation results indicate that the proposed method efficiently diminishes the estimated biased pseudorange and ionospheric delay errors to below 0.1 m. Furthermore, this method reduces the carrier phase errors by more than 60% compared with conventional single-frequency-independent tracking methods. Consequently, the proposed method can achieve rapid centimeter-level results ranging for up to 1 min without using precise atmosphere corrections and provide enhanced tracking sensitivity and robustness. Evaluation of the Heat Transfer Performance of a Device Utilizing an Asymmetric Pulsating Heat Pipe Structure Based on Global and Local Analysis

PHPs (pulsating heat pipes) are widely used as an efficient heat transfer element in equipment thermal management and waste heat recovery due to their flexibility. The purpose of this study was to design a heat transfer device that utilizes an asymmetric pulsating heat pipe structure by adjusting the lengths of selected pipes within the entire circulation pipeline. In the experiment, a constant temperature water bath was used as the heat source, with heat dissipated in the condensing section via natural convection. An infrared thermal imager was used to record the temperature of the condensing section, and the local wall temperature distribution was measured in different channels of the condensing section. Based on an in-depth analysis of the wavelet frequency, the following research conclusions are drawn: Firstly, as the heat source temperature increases, the start-up time of the pulsating heat pipe is shortened, the operating state changes from start–stop–start to stable and continuous oscillation, and the oscillation mode changes from high amplitude and low frequency to low amplitude and high frequency. These changes are especially pronounced when the heat source temperature is 80 °C, which is when the thermal resistance reaches its lowest value of 0.0074 K/W, and the equivalent thermal conductivity reaches its highest value of 666.29 W/(m·K). Secondly, the flow and oscillation of the working fluid can be effectively promoted by appropriately shortening the length of the condensing section of the pulsating heat pipes or the heat transfer distance between the evaporation and condensing sections. Third, under a low-temperature heat source, the oscillation frequency of each channel of a pulsating heat pipe is found to be low based on wavelet analysis. However, as the heat source temperature increases, the energy content of the temperature signal of the working fluid in each channel changes from a low- to a high-frequency value, gradually converging to the same characteristic frequency. At this point, the working fluid in the pipes no longer flows randomly in multiple directions but rather in a single direction. Finally, we determined that the maximum oscillation frequency of working fluid in a PHP is around 0.7 HZ when using the water bath heating method. Full article
