Fractional differential viscoelastic calculus was used to develop a model for predicting the primary to tertiary creep in the tensile creep deformation of various polypropylenes (PPs). The primary and secondary creep were described via simple fractional differential viscoelasticity with an empirical formula for the stress and temperature dependence of the fractional differential order. Tertiary creep was treated as a pure viscous body with damage. The temperature dependence is treated simply, and Arrhenius’s law is applied. As for stress dependence, the Eyring law of the sinh function was applied to the primary and secondary creep processes, while the WLF-type shift function was adopted for tertiary creep. The primary and secondary creep behaviors of each model material showed creep growth rates according to the rigidity of each material. As for the tertiary creep, the homo PP showed a little damage progression with a damage index of 0.17, while the impact-resistant PP showed faster damage progression with a damage index of around 0.5. The three types of post-consumer recycled PPs showed intermediate properties between these virgin PPs, and no peculiarities were confirmed in the static creep behaviors. It was confirmed that the creep experimental results for all model materials fell on the same Monkman–Grant law. The presented creep model can predict the creep strain transition and minimum strain rate well and is effective in predicting the creep characteristics of PPs. Full article

While there are many works on the applications of machine learning, not so many of them are trying to understand the theoretical justifications to explain their efficiency. In this work, overfitting control (or generalization property) in machine learning is explained using analogies from physics and biology. For stochastic gradient Langevin dynamics, we show that the Eyring formula of kinetic theory allows to control overfitting in the algorithmic stability approach—when wide minima of the risk function with low free energy correspond to low overfitting. For the generative adversarial network (GAN) model, we establish an analogy between GAN and the predator–prey model in biology. An application of this analogy allows us to explain the selection of wide likelihood maxima and ab overfitting reduction for GANs. Full article

The intention of this study is to carry out a numerical investigation of time-dependent magneto-hydro-dynamics (MHD) Eyring–Powell liquid by taking a moving/static wedge with Darcy-Forchheimer relation. Thermal radiation was taken into account for upcoming solar radiation, and the idea of bioconvection is also considered for regulating the unsystematic exertion of floating nanoparticles. The novel idea of this work was to stabilized nanoparticles through the bioconvection phenomena. Brownian motion and thermophoresis effects are combined in the most current revision of the nanofluid model. Fluid viscosity and thermal conductivity that depend on temperature are predominant. The extremely nonlinear system of equations comprising partial differential equations (PDEs) with the boundary conditions are converted into ordinary differential equations (ODEs) through an appropriate suitable approach. The reformed equations are then operated numerically with the use of the well-known Lobatto IIIa formula. The variations of different variables on velocity, concentration, temperature and motile microorganism graphs are discussed as well as force friction, the Nusselt, Sherwood, and the motile density organism numbers. It is observed that Forchheimer number Fr decline the velocity field in the case of static and moving wedge. Furthermore, the motile density profiles are deprecated by higher values of the bio convective Lewis number and Peclet number. Current results have been related to the literature indicated aforementioned and are found to be great achievement. Full article

The current article presents the entropy formation and heat transfer of the steady Prandtl-Eyring nanofluids (P-ENF). Heat transfer and flow of P-ENF are analyzed when nanofluid is passed to the hot and slippery surface. The study also investigates the effects of radiative heat flux, variable thermal conductivity, the material’s porosity, and the morphologies of nano-solid particles. Flow equations are defined utilizing partial differential equations (PDEs). Necessary transformations are employed to convert the formulae into ordinary differential equations. The implicit finite difference method (I-FDM) is used to find approximate solutions to ordinary differential equations. Two types of nano-solid particles, aluminium oxide (Al2O3) and copper (Cu), are examined using engine oil (EO) as working fluid. Graphical plots are used to depict the crucial outcomes regarding drag force, entropy measurement, temperature, Nusselt number, and flow. According to the study, there is a solid and aggressive increase in the heat transfer rate of P-ENF Cu-EO than Al2O3-EO. An increment in the size of nanoparticles resulted in enhancing the entropy of the model. The Prandtl-Eyring parameter and modified radiative flow show the same impact on the radiative field. In this research, we studied the impact of temperature dependent viscosity and thermal radiation on Eyring Powell fluid with porous channels. The dimensionless equations were solved using the perturbation technique using the Weissenberg number (ε ≪ 1) to obtain clear formulas for the velocity field. All of the solutions for the physical parameters of the Reynolds number (Re), magnetic parameter (M), Darcy parameter (Da) and Prandtl number (Pr) were discussed through their different values. As shown in the plots the two-dimensional and three-dimensional graphical results of the velocity profile against various pertinent parameters have been illustrated with physical reasons. The results revealed that the temperature distribution increases for higher Prandtl and thermal radiation values. Such findings are beneficial in the field of engineering sciences. Full article
