Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

In response to global environmental challenges and the growing demand for sustainable solutions, the relationship between a Green Economy and Sustainable Economic Development has become more crucial than ever. A Green Economy aims to promote economic growth while also prioritizing environmental sustainability, responsible resource management and social equity. As countries work to align economic objectives with environmental commitments, innovative strategies for sustainable development are becoming a central focus for policymakers and businesses. Sustainable Economic Development, grounded in Green Economy principles, emphasizes the balanced integration of environmental care, social wellbeing, and economic resilience. Sustainable development is a multidimensional process that should consider several components when making investment decisions, including human development (education, health), social and economic development (environmental facilities, infrastructure, and economic growth), and environmental development (natural resources, environmental quality), social aspects and governance (ESG principles).

Achieving these objectives necessitates a cooperative approach across various sectors, utilizing advanced technologies, innovative governance structures, and policy frameworks that align economic growth with environmental responsibility. The United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) consider several factors to achieve sustainable development, such as social equality, inclusion, and human rights, reduced poverty, improved education, and protection of the environment.

Although progress has been made, there are still notable gaps and challenges in understanding how green economic policies can be transformed into practical strategies across different scales, from local communities to global networks. Research is essential to assess the effectiveness of these policies, the impact of environmental innovations on economic growth, and the roles of governance and financing in fostering sustainable development. Further exploration into the unique challenges and opportunities faced by various countries, regions, industries, business sizes, governance frameworks, policy approaches, and resource allocations could enlighten the relationship between economic growth and sustainability outcomes. The complex relationships and links between elements of the Green Economy and Sustainable Economic Development highlight the need for additional research to bridge gaps across diverse fields of study.

We are pleased to invite you to contribute to this Special Issue of World, entitled “Green Economy and Sustainable Economic Development”. The Special Issue will publish a selection of high-quality papers which aim to contribute to the current body of research with papers that address various fields of interest.

In this Special Issue, original research articles and reviews are welcome.
