Young Investigator Award

Dear Colleagues,

We are pleased to announce that the winner of the Viruses 2017 Young Investigator Award is Dr. Andrew B. Ward.

Dr. Andrew B. Ward comes from the Scripps Research Institute, La Jolla, CA, USA. His research combines electron microscopy and x-ray crystallography with biophysical approaches and computational analyses to elucidate the structure of viral membrane proteins. This work has led to significant advances in our understanding of the structure and function of the HIV-1, Ebola, and coronavirus glycoproteins, and mechanisms of antibody-mediated neutralization.

We would like to thank all the nominators from various fields of study for their participation and all the Award Committee Members for their evaluation of the many excellent nominations.
