Dear Colleagues,

As Editor-in-Chief of Viruses, I am pleased to announce the winners of the Viruses Travel Awards for 2019: Dr. Jelke Fros, post-doctoral fellow at the Wageningen University in the Netherlands; and Joshua Hatterschide, PhD student at the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia PA, USA. Dr. Fros’s research focuses on the effects of CpG and UpA dinucleotidefrequencies in viral genomes on viral replication. Mr. Hatterschide’s research seeks to understand how the interaction between human papilloma virus (HPV) E7 and the host protein tyrosine phosphatase, PTPN14, relates to HPV replication and pathogenesis.

Each travel award provides 800 Swiss Francs to attend a virology conferencein 2019.

Congratulations to the winners of this very competitive travel award.
