Dear Colleagues,
With the evolution from 5G to 5G-Advanced and onward to 6G, wireless networks are moving from purely resource-centric optimization toward human-centric, context-adaptive intelligence. User state, collective behavior, quality of experience (QoE), and service criticality are becoming first-class inputs for radio access control, orchestration, and service assurance. The integration of AI-native RAN, O-RAN rApps/xApps, NWDAF analytics, and edge intelligence is enabling personalized, affect- and context-aware service delivery while raising new demands on trustworthiness, privacy, and security. Additionally, advances in semantic communications and intent-based networking are reshaping how user goals are translated into network behavior.
This Special Issue aims to bring together researchers to explore recent developments, challenges, and future trends in human-centric, emotion-aware, and context-adaptive intelligence for 5G and 6G networks. We welcome high-quality original research articles and review papers that address theoretical and applied aspects in these domains.
Topics of interest for this Special Issue include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Human-centric and QoE-driven network intelligence;
- Context- and behavior-aware radio access control;
- Emotion- and affect-aware service adaptation;
- AI-Native RAN, O-RAN, and NWDAF analytics;
- Trustworthiness and privacy in contextual inference.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Telecom is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
