Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Intelligent mobility is a rapidly growing facet of intelligent transport systems (ITS) and an important contributor to the concept of smart communities in both rural and urban environments. Intelligent Mobility refers to the optimised movement of people and goods by the most suitable mode or combination of modes which address complete end-to-end journeys.

‘Always-on’ connectivity is changing the way that mobility services are being provided and importantly is contributing to a wealth of new data which complements other sources of ITS data derived from specific transport modes and networks. Such data is a valuable asset in the delivery of intelligent mobility with considerable economic and social potential, not only in terms of new products and services, but also in contributing greater transparency and accountability.

We welcome papers with a focus on communication of information between transport operators, authorities, mobility service providers and passengers, methods to encourage behavioural change, and an appreciation of the privacy and trust considerations that underpins the role of data in the delivery of intelligent mobility solutions. We are interested in the role of open data, data sharing and how the crowd, i.e., citizens, online workers, can be involved with generating and maintaining appropriate smart community datasets. We welcome case-studies of specific intelligent mobility applications, e.g., on dynamic journey planning (including multi-modal solutions), personalised mobility services, autonomous vehicles, advanced public transport systems, traffic management etc., and the contribution they can make to the development of smart communities.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Systems is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs).
