Feature papers represent the most advanced research with significant potential for high impact in the field. A Feature
Paper should be a substantial original Article that involves several techniques or approaches, provides an outlook for
future research directions and describes possible research applications.
Feature papers are submitted upon individual invitation or recommendation by the scientific editors and must receive
positive feedback from the reviewers.
Editor’s Choice articles are based on recommendations by the scientific editors of MDPI journals from around the world.
Editors select a small number of articles recently published in the journal that they believe will be particularly
interesting to readers, or important in the respective research area. The aim is to provide a snapshot of some of the
most exciting work published in the various research areas of the journal.
I am pleased to announce the winner of the Soil Systems 2020 Travel Award.
Dr. Noah Sokol, a postdoctoral researcher in the Physical and Life Sciences Directorate with the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, USA, was selected from a highly competitive field of applicants. His research focuses on how carbon and nutrients cycle through terrestrial ecosystems, and how these cycles can be altered by disturbances like invasive species, planetary warming, and land use change.
Dr. Sokol will receive 800 Swiss Francs to support attendance at any soil-related academic conference in 2020. Congratulations to Dr. Sokol on receiving this highly competitive travel award.
I would like to thank the Award Selection Committee members for their evaluation of the applicants, and I thank all the outstanding applicants for submitting their diverse and fascinating range of research topics.
