Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Economic downturns are key indicators of homelessness and housing insecurity. Individuals who experience homelessness may also often find it challenging to access housing services after losing their housing due to bureaucratic inequalities within current social policies. This Special Issue, published in Societies, considers the economic downturn during the COVID-19 pandemic, by focusing on the current knowledge on issues of homelessness and housing insecurity, as well as how social policies can be improved.

Novel research papers, methodological papers, systematic reviews, and case reports are all welcome for submission to this issue. Empirical papers using a variety of research designs and methodologies (qualitative, quantitative, or mixed methodology) are also welcome. We will accept manuscripts from various disciplines, including sociology, social work, anthropology, epidemiology, psychology, geography, political science, and public health, etc. The studies in this edition will also aim to reflect perspectives from different countries and/or regions.

The contributions to this Special Issue have to belong to one of the three categories of the journal (paper, article, conceptual paper or review), and must address the topic of the Special Issue.
