Psychiatry of Ageing and Late Life is dedicated to the study of prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of mental disorders in elderly adults. This section welcomes original research that enhances the understanding of pathophysiology, clinical presentation, and therapeutic strategies for neurocognitive disorders, late-life depression, anxiety, psychosis, and other mental disorders and related comorbidities in the elderly. A central priority lies in interdisciplinary approaches that integrate biological, psychological, and social perspectives to improve clinical outcomes and life quality in aging populations. Research areas may include (but are not limited to) the following:
- Alzheimer’s disease and neurocognitive disorders;
- Neurodegenerative disorders and neuropsychiatric disorders;
- Geriatric mental health care of the elderly;
- Geriatric psychiatry services;
- Early detection, biomarkers, and cognitive assessment tools;
- Digital health technologies for mental care in the elderly;
- Caregiver support and psychosocial interventions;
- Mental and physical comorbidity management in aging.
