2022	The inaugural issue was released. Microplastics was published as a quarterly journal.
2024	Microplastics was indexed in Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI)—Web of Science (Clarivate Analytics), starting with Volume 1 (Issue 1).
2025	Microplastics received its first Impact Factor (5.1). Microplastics received its first CiteScore (2024) of 6.8.
