Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) and particularly resistance to antibiotics (ABR) has become one of the most complex public health challenges globally. Estimates have suggested that by 2050 AMR will be responsible for 10 million deaths, of which 4.73 million are in Asia, with an associated reduction of 2% to 3.5% in Gross Domestic Product (GDP) that will cost the world up to 100 trillion USD. Largest consumption of antibiotics in the world, with widespread and often inessential use in both humans and livestock. Widespread consumption leads to antibiotic residues in water and soil that may exacerbate the development and transmission of resistance through organisms and chemicals in the environment. The World Health Organization (WHO) also declared AMR as one of the biggest threats to global health, development, and food security. Looking into the present scenario, the World Health Organization (WHO) has built a worldwide strategy to address the rising issue of AMR known as the "One Health" approach, which is based on finding the intimate connection between animal, human, and environment interface.
This Special Issue will focus on all pathogens with antimicrobial resistance in One Health framework and provide valuable insights into epidemiology, microbial genomics, bioinformatics analysis, next-generation sequencing technologies, AMR dissemination drivers, mechanisms of transfer of resistance genes, possible inhibitory AMR mechanisms, and many more aspects of AMR. As the Guest Editors of this Special Issue, I am pleased to invite you to submit original research articles, review articles, and short communications.

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Microbiology Research is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
