Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
International Medical Education (IME) recently received its first Journal Impact Factor, an important milestone that reflects the journal's growing international visibility and the strength of the scholarship it has published. This Special Issue invites contributions that reflect on the initiatives, innovations and collaborations that have supported this progress and that chart new directions for the field going forward. Medical education continues to evolve rapidly in response to demographic change, technological innovation and the increasing internationalization of health professions training. Curricula are being redesigned around competency-based and problem-based learning, digital and simulation-based pedagogies and cross-cultural and cross-institutional partnerships, including joint and dual degree programs. Understanding which initiatives translate into measurable improvements in learner outcomes, faculty development and institutional capacity is essential for evidence-based education reform. This Special Issue aims to showcase the breadth of contemporary medical education research and practice, providing a platform for authors worldwide to share empirical studies, program evaluations, curriculum innovations and conceptual analyses. Suggested themes include, but are not limited to, problem-based and case-based learning; globalization and international partnerships in medical curricula; competency-based and outcomes-based education; digital, simulation-based and blended learning; faculty development and educator training; assessment methodologies; diversity, equity and inclusion in health professions education and the role of mentorship and international exchange in shaping future physicians and researchers. We welcome original research articles, systematic and narrative reviews, case studies and perspective pieces from educators, researchers and administrators across all health professions disciplines and world regions.
