Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Prostate and bladder cancers represent two of the most prevalent urological malignancies, posing significant clinical challenges due to their heterogeneity, progression mechanisms, responses to treatment, and therapeutic resistance. Advances in clinical practice and healthcare strategies have improved early detection, patient management, and treatment approaches, ultimately enhancing patient outcomes and paving the way for innovative diagnostic, prognostic, and therapeutic strategies offering novel insights into the clinical management of these cancers.

This Special Issue, “Clinical Updates in Prostate Cancer and Bladder Cancer”, seeks to highlight recent developments in patient-centered care, healthcare procedures, the identification of biomarkers, therapeutic targets, resistance mechanisms, and clinical management strategies. Topics of particular interest focusing on, but not limited to the following areas, are welcome:

  • Optimizing diagnostic and prognostic approaches: advancements in imaging techniques, risk stratification models, and clinical biomarkers that improve early detection and disease monitoring; the integration of improved diagnostics with imaging technologies and individualized therapeutic approaches to enhance patient outcomes.
  • Liquid biopsies and biomarkers: the utilization of minimally invasive techniques to analyze biofluids, such as blood and urine, for detecting and monitoring molecular changes in real-time.
  • Personalized treatment strategies: updates on patient-tailored therapies, including the role of hormonal treatments, chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and novel targeted interventions in clinical practice.
  • Addressing therapeutic resistance and treatment sequencing: strategies for overcoming resistance to conventional therapies and optimizing treatment sequences to improve patient outcomes.
  • Innovations in minimally invasive and surgical techniques: the impact of robotic-assisted surgery, focal therapy, and bladder-sparing approaches on patient quality of life and recovery.
  • Integrating supportive and palliative care: the role of multidisciplinary care teams, rehabilitation programs, and symptom management in improving patient well-being.
  • Healthcare delivery and patient outcomes: the influence of healthcare policies, accessibility to treatments, and real-world clinical data on patient care and survival rates.

By emphasizing insights on patient care, clinical management, and healthcare procedures, this Special Issue seeks to provide a valuable resource for clinicians, healthcare providers, and researchers dedicated to improving the diagnosis, treatment, and overall management of prostate and bladder cancers. We welcome original research, reviews, and case studies that contribute to these goals and support advancements in urological oncology.

We look forward to your contributions to this important and evolving area of oncology.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Healthcare is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2700 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.

Benefits of Publishing in a Special Issue

  • Ease of navigation: Grouping papers by topic helps scholars navigate broad scope journals more efficiently.
  • Greater discoverability: Special Issues support the reach and impact of scientific research. Articles in Special Issues are more discoverable and cited more frequently.
  • Expansion of research network: Special Issues facilitate connections among authors, fostering scientific collaborations.
  • External promotion: Articles in Special Issues are often promoted through the journal's social media, increasing their visibility.
  • e-Book format: Special Issues with more than 10 articles can be published as dedicated e-books, ensuring wide and rapid dissemination.
