Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The field of endodontics is undergoing a rapid transformation fueled by innovative techniques and technologies. These advances are beginning to challenge traditional protocols that have long defined the discipline. Established principles—particularly those concerning access cavity design, canal shaping, irrigation, and obturation—are increasingly being reconsidered in light of emerging clinical approaches.

While some of these developments demonstrably enhance patient outcomes, others raise critical questions regarding their evidence base and possible commercial bias. This underscores the urgent need for rigorous clinical research to evaluate the real-world impact of these innovations on treatment efficacy, patient safety, and the reduction in procedural errors.

This Special Issue invites high-quality clinical studies and systematic reviews that investigate the effectiveness, safety, and clinical relevance of new approaches in endodontic practice. We particularly welcome submissions that provide measurable outcomes in patient care and support evidence-based decision making.

Areas of interest include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Minimally invasive endodontics;
  • Irrigant activation techniques with proven clinical benefits;
  • Bioactive endodontic cements in clinical settings;
  • Endodontic microbiology with direct treatment implications;
  • Vital pulp therapy with clinical outcome data;
  • Regenerative endodontics with demonstrated patient benefit;
  • Micro-surgical endodontics with long-term follow-up;
  • Use of 3D and guided technologies with clinical outcome measures.

We look forward to your contributions in shaping the future of evidence-based endodontic care.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Healthcare is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2700 CHF (Swiss Francs).
