Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Numerous studies and analyses indicate that, despite the implementation and widespread adoption of primary prevention strategies and effective therapeutic interventions, stroke remains the most prevalent neurological disorder of the 21st century. The epidemiological burden of stroke continues to be high. This is largely attributable to age being the predominant non-modifiable risk factor for cerebrovascular disease; thus, with an aging population, the incidence of stroke is projected to increase progressively.
This Special Issue aims to present contemporary advances in diagnostic, therapeutic, and rehabilitative strategies for patients following stroke. Timely diagnosis followed by specialized treatment is essential for favorable clinical outcomes. Interventions such as intravenous recombinant tissue plasminogen activator (IV r-tPA) and mechanical thrombectomy (MT), when administered appropriately, have been shown to significantly limit the extent of cerebral injury. Nevertheless, a considerable proportion of patients require subsequent rehabilitation. Stroke remains a leading cause of both short- and long-term disability, often resulting in patients becoming emotionally and physically dependent on caregivers. Therefore, comprehensive discussion of rehabilitation modalities is imperative to optimizing recovery and improving quality of life in post-stroke patients.
For this Special Issue, both original research articles and reviews are welcome.
I look forward to receiving your contributions.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Healthcare is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2700 CHF (Swiss Francs).
