Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Medication adherence in cardiovascular medicine is a critical issue, with approximately 50% of patients exhibiting poor adherence to prescribed treatments. This non-adherence significantly reduces treatment efficacy, increases the risk of complications, and raises healthcare costs. Several factors influence the adherence span, disease, therapy, healthcare, patient, and social domains, though with some inconsistencies being seen across studies. Various strategies to improve adherence have been tested, including patient education, medication reminders, cognitive behavioral interventions, cost reductions, healthcare team involvement, and simplified dosing regimens. While some interventions have shown positive effects on adherence, only a few studies have demonstrated a reduction in adverse clinical outcomes. The high heterogeneity in adherence research highlights the need for standardized approaches to improve comparability and develop targeted interventions for those at highest risk of non-adherence.
As can be seen from the above summary, numerous aspects of this research topic can be approached and examined, and its impact on quality of life and survival makes it of pivotal importance.
In this Special Issue of Healthcare, we would like to extend an invitation to publish your latest research findings. Original Research Articles, Reviews, Case Reports, Research Notes, and Short Communications are all welcome.
We look forward to receiving your contributions.
