Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

We are pleased to announce an upcoming Special Issue in Healthcare, dedicated to exploring evidence-based strategies for reducing stress and enhancing wellbeing in diverse educational and professional settings. This peer-reviewed Issue is dedicated to advancing interdisciplinary research in public and environmental health sciences.

In recent years, the widespread adoption of hybrid work and learning models, alongside the rapid integration of digital technologies, has significantly transformed educational and professional contexts. These developments have expanded opportunities for flexible learning and remote work, empowering individuals to better manage personal and professional responsibilities. However, they have also introduced new stressors, such as blurred work–life boundaries, constant connectivity, digital fatigue, and social isolation, which can negatively impact mental health and overall wellbeing.

Empirical evidence underscores both the benefits and drawbacks of these emerging models. On the one hand, they can foster engagement, autonomy, and productivity; on the other hand, they may contribute to information overload, reduced in-person social interactions, and a decline in psychological resilience. As such, there is an urgent need for evidence-based strategies that optimize the benefits of these models while mitigating their psychological and physiological costs. Importantly, increasing attention is being directed toward the role of physical and social environments in supporting health and reducing stress in work and learning settings.

This Special Issue seeks to collect original research articles, reviews, theoretical contributions, case studies, and implementation reports addressing interventions to reduce stress and enhance well-being in learning and work environments; programs and practices that build psychological resilience and mental health among students and workers; evaluations of organizational or institutional policies aimed at stress reduction and health promotion; theoretical frameworks and best practices for improving digital well-being and maintaining work–life balance; and the impact of physical environments on health, well-being, and cognitive function.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Healthcare is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
