Travel Award

Dear Colleagues,

As Editor-in-Chief of Geosciences, I am pleased to announce the winner of the Geosciences 2024 Travel Award. The award has been granted to Dr. Andrea Maffeis, who is a postdoctoral researcher in the Università di Torino,
Dipartimento di Scienze della Terra, Italy. His research interest combines fluid inclusion petrology in natural samples with computational thermodynamics to investigate fluids and mass transfer within Earth. He is deeply fascinated with fluid-related processes connecting the deep lithosphere with superficial hydro-atmo-biospheres and how some very small extremely mobile molecules could influence Earth’s geodynamics and life, and viceversa. He will attend the EGU 2024 (Vienna, Austria, 14–19 April 2024).

As the awardee, Dr. Andrea Maffeis will receive an honorarium of 500 Swiss Francs towards the cost of participation at his chosen conference.

With so many high-quality applicants, the evaluation process and final decision were challenging. We would like to thank all the applicants for submitting their diverse and fascinating range of research topics. On behalf of the assessment committee, I congratulate the winner on his accomplishments.
