Travel Award
Dear Colleagues,
On behalf of the Evaluation Committee, we are pleased to announce the winners of the Geosciences 2018 Travel Award: Mr. Ilya Bobrovskiy and Ms. Lauren N. Schaefer, who will be supported with 600 Swiss Francs each towards the cost of participation at their chosen conferences.
Mr. Ilya Bobrovskiy is a PhD student at the Research School of Earth Sciences, The Australian National University, Australia. His research interests focus on reconstruction of palaeoenvironments and palaeoecology of the Northern part of the East European platform during the terminal Neoproterozoic time, studying biomarkers, sedimentology and geochemistry. He is keen to present the latest results of his research on the Ediacara biota at the International Conference on Ediacaran and Cambrian Sciences, 11–21 August 2018 in Xi’an, China (ICECS 2018).
Ms. Lauren N. Schaefer is a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Department of Geological Sciences, University of Canterbury, New Zealand. Her research interests focus on investigating earthquake-induced landslides, volcanic collapse hazards, material damage evolution in dynamic systems, rock physics in geothermal systems, and remote sensing applications to landslide and volcanic hazards. The research she will present at the AGU (American Geophysical Union 2018 Fall Meeting, Washington, DC, USA, 10–14 December 2018) aims to improve our understanding of hazards around volcanoes based on a unique combination of hyperspectral airborne imaging, laboratory, and field techniques. We wish to congratulate Mr. Ilya Bobrovskiy and Ms. Lauren N. Schaefer for their accomplishments.
