Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Rapid developments in global navigation satellite systems and diverse satellite‑borne observation technologies have greatly reshaped modern geomatics. Multi‑constellation GNSS, together with complementary satellite‑based sensing techniques, delivers critical spatial information to support surveying, geodetic monitoring, earth observation and spatial data infrastructure construction worldwide. Nevertheless, practical applications still face outstanding challenges, including signal degradation in complex environments, multi‑source data fusion, computational efficiency and accuracy–reliability trade‑offs under real‑world field conditions. Meanwhile, emerging satellite missions and continuously upgraded GNSS services bring new opportunities to tackle these bottlenecks for both theoretical research and engineering implementation. It is therefore timely to collect state‑of‑the‑art outcomes that bridge methodological innovation and practical geomatics practice.

This Special Issue aims to present and disseminate the most recent advances related to GNSS and other satellite‑based technologies for geomatics applications. We invite contributions addressing original research, technical developments, case studies and high‑quality review articles that explore the theory, algorithm improvement, performance evaluation and field‑oriented implementation of satellite‑derived geospatial solutions.

Topics of interest for publication include, but are not limited to, the following:

Multi‑constellation GNSS positioning, navigation and timing algorithms for geomatics;

Performance analysis and error mitigation of GNSS in complex observation environments;

Integration of GNSS with other satellite‑based remote‑sensing techniques;

Satellite‑based geodetic monitoring for crustal movement, deformation and environmental change;

Field pilot applications of satellite geospatial technologies in surveying and mapping;

Data fusion, processing workflows and product validation for multi‑source satellite geospatial data;

New‑generation satellite payloads and their prospects for geomatics practice.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Geomatics is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 1200 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
