Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

In light of the accelerated advancements in biotechnologies, omics approaches are progressively reshaping the domains of life science and clinical research in multifaceted ways. The prodigious data volume generated by these omics technologies (such as high-throughput sequencing) facilitates the delineation of diverse mutations at the genomic level, precise quantification of gene expression at the transcriptomic level, and the discernment of histone or DNA alterations at the epigenomic level. This fast accumulation of extensive multi-omics datasets has catalyzed the discovery of unknown disease mechanisms and biomarkers. Using omics approaches, markers for a plethora of diseases (such as cancer, diabetes, and arthritis) have been elucidated across various omics levels, and these markers have been employed for diagnostic purposes, disease preventions and prognostication of therapeutic outcomes. The expeditiously procured multi-omics datasets, in conjunction with emerging algorithmic innovations, provide an invaluable opportunity to identify novel disease markers and associated mechanisms. The objectives of this special issue include: (1) the identification of novel disease markers across diverse omics levels through omics approaches; (2) harnessing omics datasets to unravel unknown mechanisms for disease onset and progression. This special issue covers a wide range of academic pursuits, and results (such as new omics data) from wet lab experiments are normally required for publication.
