Young Investigator Award
Dear Colleagues,
We are pleased to announce that the winner of the Genes 2023 Young Investigator Award is Dr. Giovanni Nigita.
Dr. Nigita has been working on the field of molecular oncology and genetics during his post-doctoral research period. His dedication to advancing our understanding of non-coding RNAs (ncRNAs) in cancer research, coupled with his outstanding research achievements, has placed him at the forefront of developing cutting-edge computational techniques and databases for ncRNA analysis, microRNA target prediction, and functional enrichment analyses. He extended his research to the design of miRNA-like artificial molecules for potential cancer therapy applications, showcasing his forward-thinking approach to addressing cancer challenges. More recently, he has impacted the field by investigating the A-to-I RNA editing of ncRNAs and its profound implications for gene regulation in diseases, such as cancer. This exploration into post-transcriptional modification has added depth to genome biology, highlighting Dr. Nigita’s ability to delve into complex topics and generate valuable insights.
This is an outstanding achievement in today’s competitive environment. Please join us in congratulating Dr. Giovanni Nigita on his outstanding achievements.
As the awardee, Dr. Giovanni Nigita will receive an honorarium of CHF 1000, an offer to publish a paper free of charge before 31 December 2024 in Genes after peer-review, and an electronic certificate.
We would like to thank all the nominators from various fields of study for their participation and all the Award Committee Members for their evaluation of the many excellent nominations.
