Travel Award

Dear colleagues,

Our journal is pleased to announce the winner of the Computers 2021 Travel Award. The evaluation committee was very impressed with the high quality of presented work, and after careful consideration, the Travel Award has been granted to one winner: Umberto Michieli from University of Padova.

Mr. Umberto Michieli is a Computer Vision and Deep Learning enthusiast, and his research goal is to contribute to the continual adaptation process of AI into everyday life. In particular, his interests include continual learning and unsupervised domain adaptation applied to semantic segmentation. The former is a recent research field being explored with output-level and latent representation-level techniques. The latter is more consolidated in the literature, and his work is aimed at enriching neural network capabilities using self-training strategies based on generated pseudo-labels. Mr. Umberto Michieli would like to attend International Conference on Computer Vision (ICCV) 2021, Montreal, Canada, 11–17 October 2021. The award consists of 800 Swiss Francs to attend this conference.

We would like to thank all of the applicants for submitting details of what was a diverse and fascinating range of research topics. We also would like to thank the members of the evaluation committee for their comprehensive evaluation of the candidates. Finally, I wish to congratulate the winner on his accomplishments.

Sincerely,
Prof. Dr. Paolo Bellavista,
