Selected Papers from the 3rd International Online Conference on Corrosion and Materials Degradation (CMD 2026)
Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
We are delighted to announce that the 3rd International Online Conference on Corrosion and Materials Degradation (CMD 2026) will be hosted online from 30 June to 2 July 2026 by the journal Corrosion and Materials Degradation (CMD) (ISSN: 2624-5558; Impact Factor: 2.4; Cite Score: 5.2). CMD 2026 will act as a tribute to our esteemed Prof. Digby Macdonald, who was a founding editorial board member of Corrosion and Materials Degradation and a pioneer in the application of electrochemical methods and theories to advancing the understanding of corrosion and materials degradation.
This Special Issue is dedicated to highlighting the outstanding research presented at CMD 2026. Building on the conference’s remarkable success and its significant impact within the scientific community, this Special Issue will showcase cutting-edge advancements in corrosion research.
Topics for CMD 2026 are organized into eight sessions:
S1. Electrochemical Corrosion Mechanism at the Interface (Localized, Crevice, Advanced Characterization Techniques, EAC, Nanoscale);
S2. Corrosion of Steel in Concrete;
S3. Surface Treatments and Coatings for Corrosion Protection;
S4. Corrosion in New Materials (HEA, CCA, TWIP/TRIP, AM, PM);
S5. Corrosion in Biomedical Implants;
S6. Corrosion and Integrity Management in Energy Infrastructure;
S7. Discovery and Application of Corrosion Inhibitors;
S8. AI and ML Tools and Digital Twins for Corrosion Prediction.
We invite submissions aligned with these themes. All manuscripts will undergo rigorous peer review to ensure the highest scientific standards. We warmly encourage you to submit your work to help make this Special Issue a milestone in corrosion research.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Corrosion and Materials Degradation is an international peer-reviewed open access quarterly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 1200 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
