Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Recently, there has been a significant tightening of requirements for structural and functional materials on the part of high-tech industries. Increasing the operation efficiency of gas turbines and gas turbine engines is mainly connected with the necessity to enhance the operating temperatures of apparatus hot sections to 1500 ° C. In this connection, the consideration of prospective ceramic materials as thermal barrier coatings remains a crucial issue. On the basis of which, the Issue "Thermal Barrier Ceramic Materials" is devoted to a thorough description of new refractory ceramic materials for thermal barrier coatings, as well as methods for their synthesis, processing and high-temperature properties research. Of particular interest is high-entropy ceramics, which has recently become widely known due to the combination of excellent thermophysical properties that cause such materials to be suitable for thermal barrier coatings. Based on the above, the main topics are formulated, the consideration of which is devoted to a Special Issue "Thermal Barrier Ceramic Materials" of the Ceramics journal:

  • New thermal barrier materials;
  • High-entropy ceramics;
  • Synthesis and processing techniques of thermal barrier materials;
  • High-temperature properties of thermal barrier materials investigation;
  • Operational test of thermal barrier materials.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Ceramics is an international peer-reviewed open access quarterly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 1600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
