Radiation and Climate (GRS) 2021

The focus of this meeting is to facilitate discussion on bringing observations and models closer together in order to improve understanding and reduce uncertainties in the role of cloud and aerosol in climate projections. Observations provide information on the behavior of Earth systems whereas models represent our quantitative understanding and have predictive capability. Due to differences in temporal and spatial scales, the definition of phenomena, and observational uncertainty, bringing observations to bear on models is a challenging task; yet, addressing the most pressing science demands the synergistic use of models and observations. Topics in this conference will include cloud microphysics, interactions between clouds and the general atmospheric circulation, aerosol and aerosol-cloud interactions, climate sensitivity and cloud feedback, and Earth observation system requirements.
