Acta Microbiologica Hellenica was launched in 1956 as the official bimonthly journal of the Hellenic Society for Microbiology, aiming to provide a constant educational platform for biopathologists, clinical microbiologists, and every scientist involved in laboratory and clinical medicine [1]. The journal initially published articles only in Greek.
In 2009, Acta Microbiologica Hellenica adopted a quarterly publication schedule [2]. In 2016, the journal became bilingual, publishing articles in both Greek and English to expand its authorship and readership internationally [2].
As of 1 January 2024 (Volume 69, Issue 1), Acta Microbiologica Hellenica will be published by MDPI [2], joining MDPI’s growing group of journals published on behalf of societies, associations, and faculties [3]. It will be published quarterly, exclusively in English, and will welcome submissions on all aspects of medical microbiology and related fields of medical biopathology from authors worldwide.
MDPI is delighted to take over the publication of Acta Microbiologica Hellenica, and in collaboration with the Hellenic Society for Microbiology and the Editorial Board, we aim to continue evolving the journal, providing the best service to the scientific community by publishing high-quality, open access, peer-reviewed articles.
We extend a warm welcome to all the Editorial Board members, as well as to the society members, authors, and all the researchers working in medical microbiology. We look forward to collaborating with you and publishing your work in Acta Microbiologica Hellenica.
