Green lime-based plasters reinforced with hemp braids for seismic retrofits of existing buildings

The subject of the work presented is interesting and current. The research is aimed at exploring the performances of a new hydrated lime reinforced with hemp components. The theme of sustainability is fundamental in the construction sector, as this area is responsible for a large consumption of raw materials and high CO2 emissions. Research work on new materials as sustainable alternatives to traditional materials used in construction is appreciated.

Throughout the work, some gaps are identified that should be improved. One of them should be changed the title of the work because it refers to reinforcement to the seismic action with the retrofit technique but none of this is done during the work, essentially it is about bending and compression tests.

A more detailed statistical analysis of the results in terms of variance and standard deviation would be interesting

Reviewer 2 Report

Below are the comments from the reviewer:

1) The research problem/statement is missing. It should be mentioned in the abstract and elaborated in the Introduction section.

2) Some sentences are unclear and in-text citations are missing in some sentences. For example, lines 26-30, "Thus, over....environment." A citation is needed for the first sentence. What are "such studies"?

3) A figure to describe the methods and research steps would benefit the readers.

4) There are too many Figures and Tables. The authors should consider to merge them together or remove unnecessary ones. For example, Figure 3 or Figure 17 can be removed. Table 16 can be merged with Table 17.

5) There are many sub-figures in a figure, which is difficult to be mentioned. They should be named or arranged in a different way.

6) Discussion is missing in some parts to describe the results of the research.

7) "The present work" or "the current research" should be replaced by "This research."

Reviewer 3 Report

The manuscript needs a major revision, here are my comments,
- The abstract can be more meaningful and attractive by adding the main contribution and findings of this study.
- The previous works and the novelty of this work need to be highlighted in the introduction section, which probably needs to add additional references.
- Figure 1 requires a simple edit by keeping the characteristics of the product table only.
-  Some Tables in physical and mechanical tests can be moved to an appendix section.
- Physical and mechanical tests need to be discussed further because most work in these sections has been devoted to adding Tables and Figures.
