Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

Very sound piece of work providing a very nice example of consistency between thermodynamic properties and molecular water-lipid interactions by FTIR spectra. The interpretation of the results makes full sense and shows the utility of a complementary set of methods to obtain useful molecular information. Just a small detail, the authors should define and specify Tc temperature and include results above Tc (they mention they included them in Figure 2 but I do not see them)

queries:  The authors should define and specify Tc temperature and include results above Tc (they mention they included them in Figure 2 but I do not see them).

Ans; T c was defined as the critical temperature at which no transition between liquid expanded and liquid condensed phase is observed.

The data and analysis was restricted to results obtained at 23 oC i.e. below Tc for DPPC.

The different water activities at whcih the spectra were obtained are denoted by different line colors
