Comments and Suggestions for Authors

This paper aims to study the main safety challenges in the Sri Lankan construction industry and determine the key factors through questionnaires and data analysis, which has certain practical significance and research value. While the topic is relevant to researchers in related fields, there are some areas that require improvement before acceptance for publication. My detailed comments are as follows:

1. Clarify the research objectives. Be more clearly stated that the study aims to determine which safety challenges are the main ones in the Sri Lankan construction industry, and how these challenges are classified and related to each other.

2. Emphasize research findings. The conclusion part comprehensively summarizes the main content and findings of the study, but the expression is relatively flat. The key conclusions and important findings of the study can be appropriately refined and highlighted to make the conclusion more impactful and readable.

3. Streamlining content. Overall, the essay is somewhat lengthy and complex. Consider streamlining some of the unnecessary descriptions, to make the paper more logically coherent.

4. Strengthen the discussion between this study and other research areas.Further explore the similarities and differences between this study and others in terms of research methods, sample characteristics, safety challenge factors, etc., and how these similarities and differences affect the research results and conclusions.

5. Briefly explain the key data. The data analysis results is relatively complex, with many tables and the meaning of some data and indicators in the tables is not clear enough.

6. Physical science falls into various complex safety & security systems. Some related works will be helpful to expand the research background  (e.g.Doi: 10.1016/j.jsasus.2024.09.003).

Comments and Suggestions for Authors

Dear Authors, your manuscript presents an interesting and well structured research into the reasons of low safety performance. While the results are correct, they were also expected since they are in line with similar research that was conducted in other countries. In other words, what sets your research apart from all the others, i.e. what is the added benefit to stating the same issues in just another country? I therefore suggest to expand the discussion section by comparing your results to some similar already conducted research.

Other comments are supplied in the attached pdf.

Comments and Suggestions for Authors This study aims to determine which safety challengers are predominant in Sri Lankan construction industry, which helps to overcome other safety challenges that rely on them. The content of the paper is rich, the framework is reasonable, and it conforms to the scope of publication of the journal. Some small comments: 1. Summary suggests providing more quantitative indicators. 2. The length of the paper is too long, which may be due to the provision of a survey questionnaire. How is the questionnaire in the attachment set up? What basis is there? What is the necessity of questionnaire content? This section requires more description. 3. There are many tables in the paper, can they be represented in the form of graphs? 4. Is the sample size of the paper sufficient? The sample size has a significant impact on the results.
